I love this little gem on Gower and Hollywood. Try the medium Toro tuna sushi. Mmmmm Good. It is run by the owner so you know it is clean and the fish is always fresh. Nice clean little restaurant. Try the Albacore with their custom sauce. Really nice treat.
Parking is a bit tight at times during lunch but at dinner it is never an issue.

I go to Daikokuya with my gf at least once every month. There is only 1 kind of ramen here -- the daikoku ramen. The ramen is too good that it worths the 1+ hour wait. I've tried most of the famous ramen restaurants in LA and this is definitely one of the bests.
btw, this place is called Daikokuya instead of Dakokuya
Pros: awesome ramen
Cons: parking, and long line

The best Albacore sashimi I've tasted in my life! I've been to many sushi restaurants and Albacore has been one of my least fav.
Upon trying it at Sakura, I've been converted, and fully devoted to ONLY eating Albacore sashimi at Sakura, and no where else!
Pros: Fresh
Cons: Crowded

I went to Zip Fusion for a business lunch and the place, food and service was so good that business quickly turned into pure fun! Zip is an upbeat place with great food and the service was perfect. I would recommend it to anyone who is in the downtown area. I have even pledged to make it a point to take my wife back for dinner one evening this summer.
Pros: Convenient, upbeat and delicious!
Cons: Can't think of one

The atmosphere from the first moment you walk in feels like your in japan. The staff greets you in a nice and friendly manner. The plates are proportionate and the quality of food is excellent. I will defiantly be going back. Best sushi I have had in LA, hands down.
Pros: Great atmosphere, good food, great sake!!

I hosted a bachelor party for my brother last night and brought 17 guys here for nyotaimori, or "body sushi." Even though the private room only accomodates 14 or less, they were nice enough to section off a part of the restaurant so we could have the party. Coordinating the reservation was easy. I had no idea how this would turn out other than none in our party had ever had "body sushi." Without a doubt, these guys were FANTASTIC. Everything was great. The staff was attentive, the bar was great and suprisingly, the sushi was really, really good even though they were serving such a large party. As good as any individual meal you could order. Our nyotaimori model, Janica, was awesome and our server was great too. The chef was constantly checking on us and making sure we were taken care of. Every guy had a great time in no small part to how great the restaurant, food and staff were. I would highly recommend this place and recommend trying "body sushi" if you haven't.
Pros: Body sushi, food, wait staff and bar. Nice patio bar too.
Cons: None

The place is equipped with a balcony--overlooking the Farmers Market and the Grove--a conveyor belt, a bar and casual tables inside. We were sitting inside, right next to the large glass wall at a high table on comfy stools. The sushi came beautifully arranged to our table and it was very fresh. The service brought us extra ginger (after our request) and refilled our glasses every now and then. The strawberry ice cream we ordered for dessert was creamy and tender served with crispy chocolate sticks alongside. The sushi place has a happy hour from 6pm to 7pm and the service was very attentive and friendly.
Pros: Food, ambience, service

So my buddy had been raving for months about Chilean sea bass... it cures cancer (not really, only Chuck Norris tears do that), makes you taller, better looking, etc. He finally got me to try it at Sushi Mon and I must say it was like something out of Ratoutouille. It could quite possibly be the best thing I've ever tasted. I've tried the same dish at four other restaurants and none compare to what I had at Sushi Mon that day. Oh, I've been there three times since and it's always amazing.
Pros: Chilean Sea Bass
Cons: No parking, must valet
