If you' have never shopped at Trader Joe's for groceries, household supplies, or wine/beer then you have been missing out! Get yourself there immediately--great imported foods, wonderful prices on produce and all manner of goods. Great desserts. They have organic foods and tend to be health food oriented. The wine selection and price is superb as are the beers. I just LOVE TJ's!! I think that the store in Culver City is the best--it's got the best selection, is a new building, and isn't as crowded as the other stores. Check out the website for locations. Oh yeah and they have great prices on imported cheese.

This kosher butcher has been on Fairfax for many years and just recently expanded into the store next door. It is much more updtodate looking now. THere London Broil is great. The meat is prepackaged but they will repackage it for you or make up the size package that you need. There are times that they carry their own burritos. They are also a small kosher market as well as a butcher.Closed Fri night, Sat and all major Jewish holidays.

it's been around for years and is very quaint.
the bathroom is a little divey, but you can't expect too much!
they have indoor and outdoor dining.
parking is a little topugh sometimes. and it gets so crowded, if there's street parking, you have to walk a little ways. during lunch time, in the day, is better than at night!
but the food and the prices make it worth it!

Palermo is a favorite to my family and to many others in the area. It has a "you're in my house" feel to it and you're always welcome there. The food is great from the pasta to the pizza to the desert. I guess with so much volume they don't have to have the prices up either. It's affordable as well as enjoyable. The owner can be seen around the establishment on nearly every visit and you feel well taken care of.
Convenient parking out back by valet and a movie theater right across the street. We chose Palermo for anniversaries,birthdays, and any day at all.

Marina Farms has the best produce you can find in LA at a great price. They have all varieties of fruits and vegetables that you may be looking for. They also sell dairy products and all other food items. Once you discover this place, you will not go anywhere else to buy your produce. They have awesome pineapples. The best part of your visit will be when you look at your bill. You simply can't believe that you bought so much for so little. They are open until 7.00PM everyday.

Most of the Trader Joe's on the Westside are comparable in terms of merchandise and selection, but this one "wins" because of -- the parking situation! It's so much easier to get into and out of this store, in part because they share a parking lot with Longs Drugstore. And unlike the locations on Pico/Centinela and Westwood/National, you won't spend fifteen minutes in parking lot gridlock. The staff at this Traders is exceptionally friendly and their selection of prepared foods is well stocked (other Westside locations tend to be pillaged by day's end).

Since the baby came along, our grocery bill has gone up quite a bit. One place where I know our dollar goes far is Trader Joe's. Not only do they have a very good selection of healthy and reasonably priced foods, but even their frozen food section is a great place to stock up on a week's worth of meals without breaking the bank or eating junky fast food. Items I recommend: Naan, Garlic Naan, Gnocci, Bulgogi (not frozen, in the meat section), and any of their quiches.

there's this mexican joint there that sells tacos and tortas........
they are TO DIE FOR.....
health nuts- forget about it.....
the food is abundant and a bit greasy but it's soooooooooo good-
all walks of life come here....
it's funny to see business men in line with the poorest patrons- all ready for some yummy tacos.......
if you must eat somewhere ind owntown los angeles....
please... do yourself a favor and go!!!!!!!

this is a great place for sandwiches... i don't usually like to eat sandwiches but i do here. and they have roast beef and pastrami sandwiches.
tuesdays and thursdays they serve italian too! we eat lasagnas here...
and they get busy too.
they started out as a mom and pop market and now it's evolved into a busy nice little neighborhood restaurant... and serving a local downtown crowd for lunch.

Great place to buy alcohol from if you are looking for something nice. They have racks of wine and all kinds of bottles that are so expensive you should not even be looking at it through the glass case and all the other stuff protecting it from human curiousity. Of course they have the "normal" alcohol too. The people working there also know their stuff and they are very helpful. They will come around and ask if you need any help. I asked one of the workers for a recommendation on something and he asked me about my budget and what I would be using it for and he picked out an excellent bottle for me.
