Went looking for some early Saturday morning, Los Angeles' Chinatown, Chinese food. Actually looking for some noodles and maybe a seafood soup. Happened upon this locale, passed it many times, went in once, thought the dinners were a bit pricey considering all the options, and passed. But today was both a surprise and a delight. Dim Sum Heaven! And that is about all that you will get at this hour of the weekend day. Don't expect to order fried squid, or Cod in black bean sauce. They are serving Dim Sum, and they are serious about it. Once seated, we were literally swamped by servers. The choices were made lightening fast. But not to complain. It was delicious, well-prepared, and efficiently fast and fun. The bill for two was a bit high, nearing $80, as compared to $40 at another well-established Dim Sum eatery located just North and down the street near the entrance to the freeway. But the food was better than good, which is what the other place serves-- so, all in all, it was worth the extra ducats.
Pros: Lot of space. Happy environment. Hey, It's Chinatown, Jake!
Cons: Mobbed by the staff. Let me breath between bites of Dim Sum!!!

I am American (born in Queens, New York) and married to a man from Hong Kong. We travel all over the world for both business and pleasure. A friend of mine recommended Ocean Seafood for lunch and boy did we love it. The atmosphere and food reminded us so much of Hong Kong. Yes, it was crowded but what do you expect. I did read several reviews and I agree with all the positive ones. It?s a great place to bring families and friends, (we had 10 people in our party). Our kids loved the live fish. You should really try their deserts. We had the bean curd and was it good. It was hot and incredibly authentic. You?ll love it. The only downside is the wait, but be patient and come early.
Pros: the Deserts
Cons: the Wait (it was Mother's Day)

Every once in awhile I must have some dimsum. It's like an addiction, something you know is not good for you but you still crave it. Ocean Seafood is not the best dimsum that I've ever had but it is still very good. The place is huge and still every weekend that I went we still have to wait to be seated. The service is very fast. The food are varied and there tends to be something new everytime that I went. Overall, it is always satisfying. However, the price tends to be on the expensive side in comparison to other dimsum places.
Pros: Great dimsum, fast service
Cons: Tends to be pricey for dimsum

i always come here for dim sum. the prices are great, the food is great. what more can you ask for? the waiters come around with carts and majority of them can't speak english, so you basically just point to what you want. it's usually packed when i come there for brunch on weekends. and also lunch time on the weekdays--business people. there's valet for 1.50, i think.
Pros: great dim sum.
Cons: none.

My wife and family are Chinese and have had Chinese food all our lives in both Los Angeles and San Francisco and I can definitively say that this was the worst of this food we have ever had. Fried chicken was extremely dry, and the chow mein was not worth mentioning. To complete the experience, service was terrible. Overall, it was so bad that we made a special stop to buy some dessert just to clean our palate.
Pros: Fortune cookie
Cons: Food & Service

Really confused at the high rating. Went with a bunch of friends because of the high citysearch marks, but our experience involved lousy service, pushy dim sum cart people and -- to be blunt -- bad food. The dim sum we tried was cold, not everything we ordered off the menu made it to the table, and what did was salted beyond reason, yet strangely bland at the same time... Attempts to resolve issues proved futile due to language issues, though it's hard to begrudge an authentic ethnic restaurant for bad English, I suppose. Maybe we were there at the wrong time, ordered the wrong food, wanted a beer too cold, etc., etc., but overall we have to give this a half-a-chopstick rating.
Pros: Cute live fish
Cons: Everything else
