We have been going to Little China for almost 12 years now and never thought to look it up on City Search. After having dinner there tonight and driving past (yech!) Panda Express and seeing how busy it was, I was saddened that so many people have no idea that two or three blocks down on Cahuenga is Little China. It is amazing compared to the McDonalds of Chinese food, Panda Express. It's nothing fancy in terms of decor or ambiance but the food is always fresh and the price is right. It's always busy at lunch due to the Nissan dealership across the street and they have awesome lunch specials that includes an egg roll and small soup. It's busy at dinner too but more on the delivery side of things not so much the restaraunt. We order take out there all the time as well and the same awesome guy, William, has been delivering to us for the 12 years we've been eating there. Our favorite dish to order is the "LIttle China Chicken" and their Hot and Sour soup is always good on a cold L.A. night.
Pros: Food, Price, Service
Cons: Ambiance, Closed on Sundays

Have the Howard's chicken with two eggs on top. Lots of food, reasonable prices, and delicious. Go early for lunch, it gets really busy after 11:00. Guaranteed to give you a mild heart attack.
Pros: Delicious Chinese/Breakfast food at reasonable prices.
Cons: Crowded at times, not recommended by American Heart Association

This is the best place for authentic Chinese food in downtown LA!
MUST try!
I have been there for a few times with different friends and they were all very satisfied with the food there.
The servers are friendly and the food are fresh.
Their Alhambra store has really good desserts but then they don't make it in downtown. =(
Reasonable prices, awesome food.

I'm a local and have been coming to Las Galas for the past few years for my job is just a couple blocks away. The food is spectacular, I recommend any of their bento specials or their grilled sandwiches are spectacular, on top of that the prices are so low compared to the gargantuan size portions they offer. Try it out, I gurantee you will leave fully satiated and satisfied! Two Thumbs up!!!
Pros: price, portions, taste

Like another reviewer, I have been going to this restaurant since I was a kid. It has recently changed ownership and the new owner, Simon, has remodeled the place and it looks great! The best part is, the new owner kept the menu practically the same and the taste of the food hasn't changed. Here's the typically family order - start with the sizzling rice soup, then order peking duck, pork chop with spicy salt, the cod with black bean sauce, either the chinese broccoli or the snow peas and mushrooms, sizzling beef, and the house special pan fried noodles. The place has some of the best prices for lunch as well! I normally like to go during the weeknight around 8 or 9 but any time is a great time to eat at Regent.
Pros: Great Chinese Food
Cons: Parking can be limited during peak hours

On the corner of an unassuming block, Silk Road is such a find for those seeking fresh Chinese food. Don't be fooled by its attempt to offer Japanese fare - they only did that to keep up with all the crazy sushi heads in the city. This is the only place we go when we are craving Chinese and don't want to venture too far.
Inexpensive and family owned, it is tiny and lacks ambiance, but it always hits the spot. Our favorites: Beef with broccoli, hot and sour soup, tangerine beef and chicken fried rice.
They use fresh vegetables and real meat that isn't tenderized and fake-tasting like so many other places. We always bring visiting friends here because it's unpretentious, casual, but delicious. Unfortunately people in LA seem to need trendy, over-priced spots - Don't do it! Go here!
Pros: Yummy, inexpensive basic Chinese food
Cons: Small and lacks ambiance
