Located in the Los Feliz Village, this coffeeshop is a great alternative to the omnipresent and personality-lacking Starbucks that pepper the streets of Los Angeles. Their fresh Peppermint tea is delicious, they offer wireless with any purchase, and the outdoor seating provides a great perch for people-watching.

Psychobabble is the kind of coffehouse near and dear to my heart. It's small, no furniture matches, the waitstaff aren't sickeningly helpful, and the whole atmosphere puts you back in the mindset of the broke student you once were. The food is good, the coffee is excellent and you are allowed to hang out for hours should you desire. Internet concessions have been made, but I must admit it just feels wrong. Playing chess, writing, chatting with friends and drinking coffee into the night feels right, and is encouraged. Definately a "make your own fun" type of place, but one of my favorites.
Pros: Inexpensive, Atmosphere, Attitude
Cons: Small

There are a fair amount of coffee houses with Internet Access. Some wireless, some wired. Although I could do both, in small confines like Psychobabble, wired works fine.
What I want to point to is that psychobabble gives you DSL Internet Access for FREE. I know it doesn't cost these places that much anymore to provide access to the internet, but other shops use it to make extra money instead of as incentive to go there, usually $5/hour!
Pschobabble may night be my favorite coffee shop, the free DSL keeps me going there and I like supporting a business that isn't just trying to use internet access as an easy way to make money.
Pros: Free DSL, Late hours, Good selection
Cons: A little rundown, wobbly tables

It was a nice and refreshing to see someone other than a corp. chain, open a cafe in the village. It was soo desparately needed.
Very open to new and upcoming artists, there has been poetry readings, jazz, live music, and now comedy in the evening for the locals to enjoy.
Service is varied as the help never seems to stick around for long. Sometimes you get great service and other times it's like pulling teeth to get someone's attention.
Love the new cushy chairs and loveseat. My butt thanks the owners.
Pros: new chairs, people, local
Cons: service, lighting
