I only wish that for every Coffee Bean, Pete's, and Starbucks there was a Psychobabble. The coffee is so good, the tea selections are enormous and amazing, and they have the best cheesecake EVER. They're open until 2 am, and very appreciative of local artists- not only do they display art for sale (a virtual modern museum gallery in itself), but also host open mic nights and have free wi-fi. Sit and meet new people or just watch them play chess on the patio, or bring a book, but don't epect to read it- the people watching is just so much better. :-)
Pros: CHEESECAKE, tea and coffee selections, artist support
Cons: parking, sometimes super busy (but c'mon, it's LA people)

I like The Downbeat Cafe. I always get some kind of tea or hot chocolate, the coffee is also good. The atmosphere is very laid back and there are special events going on some nights.
Parking sucks though, if you can't find any metered parking you have to drive around looking for a spot.

If you love a good coffee shop that reeks of local flavor, this place is perfect for you. It’s just so much better than going into a huge corporate coffee store and ordering something that was made with no LOVE! The people at stir-crazy are really nice and they have great iced drinks. Try it out!

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf consistently makes good espresso drinks. Unlike Starbucks, their beans are all overly-dark. In all of the different Coffee Beans' I've been to, I've never gotten a bad cup. Also, they make great iced blendeds, and can make virtually any drink decaff and nonfat. If you get their frequent buyer card, you get a free drink (or free bulk coffee) after a few visits.

Cafe Chapeau has been in business in Larchmont Village for years. They offer wonderful home-style cooking, generous portions, reasonable prices and service with a smile. It's a great place for breakfast, their eggs benedict is outstanding. Just grab a patio table, enjoy a leisurely meal and people-watch.
PROS: Great food and prices and location
CONS: Sometimes hard to get an outdoor table

Ice Kiss is a cute Korean cafe that serves desserts and drinks. It is a popular place in Los Angeles for young people to go to. Inside, it is decorated with cute designs and it is ideal for couples. They serve pat bing soo, a Korean dessert made of shaved ice, fruits, red bean (sweet), ice cream, and jellies. It is delicious and sweet. Ice Kiss is special because it has a size called "monster size" and it can feed up to 5 people. They also sell cakes, coffee, and boba.

This is definitely a "different" coffee house, appropriate for Hollywood. The interior is very dark, with long tables shared by writer-types on laptops and artsy folks with sketch pads. There are pool tables and computers with paid internet services. The coffee is quite good- try the macchiato- though the servers sometimes focus on their "regulars" sitting at the bar rather than the growing line. The have a variety of snacks and light meals- I really liked the vegetable sandwich I got that came with these cool veggie chips. It is a little pretentious in here and the music is sometmes loud. Still, its a fun place to come with friends for good coffee and a non-standard environment.
