Little did I know the hassle in trying to get a tux the day of an event! I Googled "los angeles tuxedo rental same-day." I was greeted with great reviews of Mr Tuxedo and decided to make the drive. They handled me with kid gloves and walked me through every option (vest, no vest, bow tie, tie, which shoes) with the patience of saints.
If I or anyone I know ever has to rent (or purchase!) a tux or suit, the only words out of my mouth with be Mr. Tuxedo.
Pros: free parking, patience, might be psychic

World Supply is a great store. They are mostly an art store carrying everything an artist would need but they also have custom framing, fine pens, and unique gifts. The staff is extremely helpful when you are looking for a special hard to find item. They also do engraving and make custom signs. When looking for art supplies this is the place to go.

Flax has a wonderful array of pens and stationary. I was able to get some gorgeous stationary to write letters on, as well as some more professional business style paper for letterheads. Their pen selection was great and I was able to find a delightful ballpoint for my father for his brithday. Makes for great gifts as well. They also have cards and some scrapbooking material, all of which I found slightly expensive but very exquisite. Upscale and very nice.

We always go to staples not only because they are near to our place of residence but becuase of the wide array of services they offer like office supplies, printing needs, photocopying needs and the like. They also have this free rewards program to encourage loyalty among it's members. Come tax time you can ask for forms from them for free. DO visit staples it's your other office supply chain store.

Voom is a very unique boutique. Most of their clothing is designed by the owner of the store. They have a lot of very unique tops, skirts and jackets. I almost reaked when I found out they were the ones who had this really cool jacket that I'd been looking for everywhere and couldnt' find. They also sell seven jeans and a lot of the in labels like that. I liked the way they set up the store as well, with a jeans rack that made it easy to pull your size in different styles. The overall look of the store is fun just like the clothing.

Ernest Paper Products sells all kinds of paper. Wether it be for jet printers laser printers or 3 color paper for genicom machines. This is a great company for fast deliveries. Their prices are kind of high but it is well worth it. Paper is good quality and if you ever have a question or concern they will always try their best to help you out.

The locksmith that I dealt with was professional and helpful. Prices are reasonable. They also have a shop on Pico where you can stop to get keys made.

They stock all of the basics -- post-its, fountain pens, legal pads, etc -- but in relatively small quantities so the prices are higher than those of the average office superstore. Custom stationery and greeting cards can be ordered, and the selection of styles is more conservative than artistic. In general, the store's merchandise isn't wildly unique, but it gets the job done.
