I'm from NorCal, but end up in LA a lot. Almost everytime I ask someone, "Have you been to the Lucky Strike?" their response is, "Oh, the bowling alley...?" Then I feel as if I must act as a promoter, because they are SOOO misinformed. If anyhting, it is one of Hollywood's hottest nightclubs, that just happens to have the coolest bowling lanes I've ever seen, inside! If I go out to LA for a weekend, you can bet that on one of my nights in town, I'm goin to The Lucky Strike!
On my most recent trip - I had dinner there. Wow. First, I felt like I needed more time with the menu, because there were such amazing and tasty-sounding options! I could easily have ordered five things for myself! (I went with three...) We had the most amazing server - Kenny -who was not only totally charming and charismatic, but just a ton of fun! Talk about a guy who loves what he does - it was like being served by a comedian crossed with a model - good times, lots of laughs and plenty of tips for out-of-towners. Then, when the food came - well let's just say, if you thought it was just a bowling alley, you probably expected 'bowling alley food.' But what you get is gourmet restaurant food, including but not limited to Coconut Shrimp, Seared Ahi, Steakhouse Burgers...and for dessert, Kenny recommended the CHOCOLATE INSANITY!!! Enough said...the food is amazing. The service was phenomenal...then when you work your way through the restaurant to the bar - well you're experiencing one of Hollywood's finest! Fun and SeXxXy Bartending Babes, Bowling Lanes with opoutrageous characters at the shoe desk =) We all had a great time.
But that's not all. Before we left, we thanked Kenny and asked him what people do in LA on Sunday nites, and he told us about Lucky Strike's Karaoke! Of course, we came back for that, and WOW - people who sing karaoke in LA are GOOD! I was thoroughly entertained, and that Kenny deserves his own show! They also have comedy on Tuesday nites! What an awesome place! =)
Pros: Everything! The Food, the FuNn, the Good Lookin Crowd and Staff =)
Cons: Don't forget to bring in your parking ticket yo get stamped. The difference between validation(2$) and not ($10) is another drink ;)

I was there on Friday evening after the Dodger game... My buddies and I were just hanging out at the bar and the crew behind it was super chill. The bartender Jaylee was especially cool, my buddies and I don't like the whole "Hollywood" attitude that comes with most places and their staff but Lucky Strike proved that there are still places to go in downtown Hollywood that both the blue collar guy and the Hollywood Elite can both go. I say this because at the same time we got there on Friday Tom Cruise was having a party there... it was pretty decent that the staff was so cool, made us guys feel comfortable...

My company had a party at Lucky Strikes last week, and it was so so. Drink tickets (which were gone in under an hour) the same old people I see every day, and a bowling tournament than no one was paying any attention to. So I wandered over to the big bar for a draft beer (they don't have any in the VIP room) bit what I got was so much more. The bartender literally bounced over to me with a menu tucked under her arm, and then quickly listed all of the beers when she saw me squinting at them. She let me taste the two I hadn't tried and when I chose Guiness ( my old fall back) she poured it the right way, letting it settle and then writting a cute heart in the foam instead of the standard clover. She chatted with me and the couple next to me and before I knew it I had coconut shrimp and breaded macaroni and cheese bites steamming in front of me. They were delicous and probably saved me from a hangover. I hate driving in from Santa Monica, but now I think I should have my wifes birthday here, as long as I get the same fun staff, food and music, to tell you the truth the bowling was my least favorite part. Over all I have to say I was very pleasantly suprised

Lucky Strike Lanes is a wonderful place to enjoy good music, chill out and grab a beer. Their staff is hardworking and friendly, especially considering the high volume down at the lanes. Surprisingly, their food was very good. I was expecting bowling alley food, but received one of the best burgers I've eaten in a long time. Differently not your typical bowling alley menu. The atmosphere was great and it would be a very cool place to throw a private event. I would give Lucky Strike Hollywood two thumbs up.
Pros: Great staff, good food, cool atmosphere, typical city prices, party central!
Cons: Wait for Bowling

I met a few friends here last week, and boy have things changed! I think it's been about 2 years since I was here last. The service was horrible! The bartenders and waitresses had some serious attitude! Not only did it take over 20 minutes to get the first round, she never came by to check on us. We ended up just ordering from the bar! We had to ask the busser for a menu, and when our waitress finally came back and got our order, she came by a minute later with our bill for the first round and food and added a 20% gratuity! Hello, if you don't like your job- get a different one! Lose the attitude! The guys at the bowling desk were nice- but too drunk to be working. The place still looks cool, although the music is a bit outdated and loud. It was also really dead compared to what I remembered a couple years ago, and the crowd has definitely changed. Our drinks were expensive but weak. The bowling was fun- I love bowling! But the service and atmosphere kinda ruined it- we left feeling like we wasted money. I really don't recommend it- it's just not the same. I think they need some new people in there running things...too bad.
Pros: comfortable smoking area, upbeat atmosphere
Cons: terrible service, expensive, need better music

Went for a birthday party. My friend had reserved two lanes, and we had about 8 of us on each lane. The facilities themselves were nice. There was always a waitress nearby checking on us. Unfortunately, the drinks we probably the weakest I've ever tasted. Fortunately they weren't outrageously overpriced, but for the amount of alcohol in them, they should have been free. Wait times for lanes get very long very quickly, so making a reservation seems to be the way to go. The downside is that I think you pay extra. My friend's reservation was $300 for two lanes for two hours. At least the show rentals were included...
Pros: well maintained, fun atmosphere
Cons: extremely weak drinks, difficult to get a lane

My Birthday has always been my favorite holiday. So much so, I celebrate my half birthday. Anyhow, It has always been a tradition to go bowling for my birthday, and since I have moved to los angeles, The Lucky Strike has been my B-day Spot. The service is great. The staff is able to balance working hard and having fun. I hate going out and having the waitstaff seem stressed out or snotty (It can be such a downer). I also don't typically like hollywood spots, but this one doen't seem hollywoodish, except for the random celebrity spottings, which my mom loved on her visit for my birthday. Everyone is always so cool and friendly. The best is you can have your food, drink, and bowling all in one place. There are tables behind the lanes, so you can keep your food with you to snack on to give you that energy boost to bowl a strike and beat your friends. The music is eclectic, so everyone stays happy. The only reason I give it a 9 and not a 10 is cause for some people it's a little pricey. So when you plan your birthday party make sure everyone knows to bring money so your not stuck with the bill on your birthday. Or, just make sure your rich friend is invited. I recommend this spot for your birthday or any fun night out with friends, or when the mom is in town for a possible celebrity sighting!

I'm not sure about how this place is on weekends, as I refrain from the amateur crowds of Hollywood on Fridays and Saturdays. But, I love The Strike during the week. I met a friend there one Thursday night a few years back and made that a regular meeting spot on that night. I always have a great time... bowling, eating, enjoying a few drinks. The employees are always decently attired and kept, friendly, goofy, and enjoying themselves. I end up walking in with a smile and sharing a few laughs and hellos with everyone. It's a great atmosphere with awesome music (the volume CAN be turned down just a hair, though) and pretty nice customers. I don't mind the bouncers at the front door checking ID or keeping out the riff-raff (The Strike isn't a chintzy 1970's fly-by-night bowling alley... it IS a bar-lounge-entertainment center for the 21 and over crowd, and there is a dress code of sorts that doesn't allow sweats or anything else you might wear to work out in). Plus, there's no cover charge (which is really nice). I have to admit that when it gets a little bit crowded during the week, it may take a little while to get a lane and a ball that you like. But, I still like the fact that the place is so versatile and centrally located (it never takes long to get to, and everyone seems to know where it's located and how to get there). Plus, I never have to worry about going there by myself to meet up with another friend... the staff welcomes you right on in and is friendly company in the meantime . I usually order up the Buffalo Bites (YUMMM!) and a beer. It's a good combination for the atmosphere and entertainment.
