This place has a GREAT selection! I am amazed and impressed. I love the mix of high and low priced wines and the hole-in-the-wall feel of the store. Great wrapping services, quick check out, very friendly staff -- and, of course, GREAT wines. They even have a selection of high quality and exotic liquors. Also; sake!

My husband and I like to shop at this store when we go to Chinatown, because it is very clean and modern and has a wonderful selection of Chinese gifts, groceries, and herbs. The downstairs portion of the store sells all Chinese medicine and herbs. The upstairs portion sells gifts, clothes, furniture, groceries, and other sundry items. Our only complaint is that security is strict and you are not allowed to bring in any shopping bags from other stores. You have to leave them at the door with their security guard.
PROS: Great selection of Chinese medicines and gifts
CONS: Strict security is sometimes a nuisance

This simple wine shop is known for its wide selection of wines priced at $9.99. These are not the same wines that you'll see at chain stores but come from smaller wineries. What you find here one day for a reasonable price might be twice as much (or more) down the road when others discover it. If you find something you like stock up. The employees are great at asking questions and making suggestions.

For about ten years, I've shopped occasionally at the Los Angeles Wine Company(LAWC). I support local businesses out of convenience and out of a sense of loyalty.
LAWC has a good selection of hard to find California vineyards and the great Bordeaux and Burgundies. My niche is reds - $10-$30. I've found some memorable wines at LAWC but, I've never felt loyal. In my sphere (Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, there are a number of good wine stores. I shop around.
This weekend exemplifies the reason that I feel no loyalty - excreble service. Living in L.A., I'm no stranger to attitude. These people are beyond attititude.
Sure, it was 5:45 on a Saturday evening, I stopped-in on the way home to grab a half dozen bottles of wine to sample as candidates for our 'holiday wine'. As I made my way into the store, I heard someone say "last call for alcohol". 5:47pm - better hurry but, I have time.
Every holiday season, I try to find a good, solid red that will compliment turkey, etc. and provide a fitting companion to the usual cheeses etc. The 6 weekends before Christmas are a delightful time, trying wines and patting myself on the back for finding the $15 bottle that drinks like $40.00. It's my prerogative, my money, my time.
I had picked up a couple of bottles of $9.99 Avalon Cab which I thought was decent, and as I was about to add a bottle of Macon to my take, I heard someone just behind me say: "Is that going to be all? I looked at the guy, and I started towards the crate as he says: "We're about to call an end to this ballgame".
Instead, I recoiled and headed towards the door, intending to buy the two bottles of Cabernet when I realized "wait a minute - I'm the customer - it's 5:50 and this guy is shooing my out of his store while I'm trying to spend another $120." As I suffer no fools - gladly or otherwise, I placed the two bottles on a handy crate, left the store and spent my money at his competitor at the other end of the lot.
Pros: Nice selection of harder to find California varietals
Cons: Not worth the grief you'll get from the staff. You can find better selection at Wine House etc.

This store is trying to make a niche on the very competitive market of groceries products, I believe they have succeeded in penetrating the below and low average income market. They have very good deals and discounts that lure a lot of people to their place. We buy our fruits and vegetables here because it is very cheap and affordable

The employees were very rude and tried to embarass us in front of their regulars. Don't recommend going here. It seems they only cater to a small group of people in the neighborhood.
Pros: NONE
Cons: Bad Service, Rude Employees.
