The Bigfoot Lodge is a good place to come and hear drunk quasi-hipster girls sing along to Sweet Caroline. I go for the fantastic decor, which is reminiscent of the Log Ride at Knott's Berry Farm. But, with more beer. The drinks are reasonably priced and it's within stumbling distance of The Roost.

The bartenders are flirty, friendly and ready to throw down should one slander the Irish. The patrons are eclectic mix of grad students, the newly professional and long term locals. One of the best and only places in Los Angeles where you can walk in alone and have friends by the end of the night. Comfortable locale with pool table and house furniture for seating. Books for reading also lie about and above on bookshelves. Pretty awesome beer selection, live music and great buffalo wings too!

This place still has Dive written all over it, even when it's full of the young and too-hip. The dim lights, vinyl booths, and jukebox soundtrack make it a fun and low-key hangout. The carnival-style machine serving up free popcorn is also a nice touch. The only drawback: Cash only! You'll be thirsty and sad if you planned on using your Visa tonight.

This bar boasts a fantastically "kitschy" chinese-influenced decor, a la 1974. Red velvet wallpaper, lanterns, and dark wood accents give the Good Luck Bar its simultaneously quirky and mysterious ambiance. The crowds really start packing in the later it gets on weekend evenings, so come early if you'd like a booth. I recommend any of the blended drinks; go ahead and get festive!

Conceived as a natural addition to the increasingly hot Cahuenga Corridor, this bustling dance club and lounge is a nightlife destination for celebs and other scenesters. Not surprising, since the club boasted a promising pedigree before it even opened--the owner is Las Palmas' Loyal Pennings. A bubbling moat runs the length of the sign-less, white plaster and tan wood exterior. Enter through the stark white patio, which features its own tiny bar and wraparound bench seating. Inside, the raised VIP seating is draped with trailer-park chic blue curtains and spills onto the disco ball-lit dance floor. Pull up to the club valet for $20, or use the Goldfingers lot for $5, and have a drink there beforehandPull up to the club valet for $20, or use the Goldfingers lot for $5, and have a drink there beforehand

A wonderful idea, this is a place where you can order a martini while getting a manicure or pedicure. They are open at night. It is a great place to go with the girls for a night out, or for a precursor to other bars and clubs. Pricing is reasonable, appointments are suggested but not necessary.

Once upon a time, this velvet-wallpapered lounge was a daredevil kind of bar...when Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" played on the jukebox, the bartender ignited a stream of lighter fluid along the bar. This tradition is long gone, but the ambiance of the bar remains as one of the coolest, hole-in-the-wall spots in Hollywood.

This was one of my fav hang outs when I lived in L.A. With tons of red vinyl, walls that look like lava rock and a definite tiki theme prevailing. It's like you've entered another little world. They have half price drink specials usually from 8:30 - 10pm. They have a tiny stage where lounge acts play. I saw Combustible Edison there once. The food is your typical lounge type fare, but the drinks are not bad at all. It's all about the ambience here.

I have never liked Japanese food. Any raw food in general seems distasteful to me, so when I was literally dragged here, I already was biased. So when I write this review, I will say, in their defense, that to sushi lovers, you may find their food acceptable. However, as soon as I took a bite of seaweed, rice, and raw fish, I couldn't finish the rest of my meal, and on a bad day, I might have puked. The waiter was very understanding, telling me that only some people had the stomach necessary for raw food, and obviously I was not one of them. I didn't eat anything for the rest of the day, and although it may just be me, the sushi here was subpar.
