I love this place! Each time I go I am more and more impressed. The food is tasty and beautifully presented; each plate is a work of art! I highly recommend the sauteed edamame, the duck sushi roll, and the chocolate mousse sorbet dessert. Be sure to save room for cocktails! They have shoju (like Japanese vodka) that is infused with fruit like lychees, raspberries, and strawberries. They even have a jalepeno shoju if you're into that! If you haven't had a lychee martini, you better try one, they are fantastic! Bartender Frank is personable and attentive and makes it a fun place to hang out while he's mixing up the drinks. I highly recommend it!
Pros: Food, drinks, location, service
Cons: None

I went to Zip Fusion for a business lunch and the place, food and service was so good that business quickly turned into pure fun! Zip is an upbeat place with great food and the service was perfect. I would recommend it to anyone who is in the downtown area. I have even pledged to make it a point to take my wife back for dinner one evening this summer.
Pros: Convenient, upbeat and delicious!
Cons: Can't think of one

the first time i ate here with some friends, the entire staff was very condescending, rude and unwelcoming. could it be because of the way we dressed, look, or perhaps our race, and not looking like one of them. but on the upside, the deep fried calamari was decent, but i've had better. the food took forever, the service was truly horrid, and it wasn't even busy. i wanted a good night out with some friends, but turned out to be a terrible time at the restaurant. it seemed like all the staff were stuck up. so that was my first experience at this restaurant, so i went again with several friends, recently, hoping that the first visit was just an isolated incident, but boy, was i wrong! we left after the server came to us 15-20 minutes after we were seated. i've been in customer service for many years and this place is absurd. what is it with this place? so, i made a decision not to ever come back here ever again.
Pros: none
Cons: every aspects of the restaurant

If when you think of Mexican food the word "Crunch-wrap" enters your thoughts, this is not the place for you... On the other hand, if you want to have "grownup" Mexican food, Yxta offers a menu with little chance of going wrong.
Seeing the extensive tequila choices our night began with 2 Yxta Cadillacs. While sipping on them we were able to take in the decor, which was a combination of light & dark wood, unique lighting, and interesting art wrapped in an industrial look - with the exposed air conditioning work acting as a "tip of the hat" to the restaurant's warehouse district location.
As our dinner of Arrachera (marinated skirt steak) & Pollo en Mole Poblano was being fired up in the open kitchen, we were visited by Jesse, the owner. His family also owns El Arco Iris in Highland Park. Taking family recipes and putting his own interpretation on them, Jesse takes traditional Mexican food, adds splashes of the Yucatan and serves them in the style of a modern upscale restaurateur.
Dinner was great! Tender skirt steak paired with a housemade mole & cheese enchilada, rice & traditional black beans for me and chicken with mole poblano, rice & black beans for my date and two more fresh squeezed margaritas! Whatever you do, don't forget dessert or you'll miss out on the Capirotada which is the perfect punctuation!
Yxta serves notice to the restaurant world that the evolution of Mexican fare that started with restaurants like Frontera Grill & Javier's is in good hands.
Pros: Decor, food, drinks & staff

Along with a great beer selection they had an awesome DJ. The place was jumping and the drinks were flowing. It has a chill atmosphere and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I'm so jazzed the DJ will be back tomorrow on the 22nd.
You'll probably see me there drinking my fav beer cask ale and dancing in my seat!
Pros: chill atmosphere, great beer selection

This bar is nowhere near my home, yet the flavor and consistency of the wings have me on 'regular' status. Add to this the sports on the TV screen, the clientele (a good mix between creative types, IATSE-types, contractors, and other professionals) and it makes for an interesting hang.
The only thing I would suggest is a deeper wine list, but it really ain't that type of bar. This is more a a beer & whiskey place (the whiskey selection is pretty awesome). The wings taste GREAT with white wine. Get some pinot grigio PLEASE!
For the late-nite crowd, this place turns into an of-the-chain type party into the wee hours. I usually miss that side of the Rustic, but it is fun when I have a place to sleep in Los Feliz.
Pros: Great bar food, plus a few items that are 'better than bar food'
Cons: Shallow wine list

Yamato is currently my favorite restaurant! The sushi is above average, the staff is very friendly, and the crowd is mostly college students from UCLA. Whenever I walk in, I am greeted by the Hostess by the door as well as all the sushi makers at the bar. They have a DJ there on Saturday nights to play House and Rap music while you dine. Ask for Jenna to be your waitress. She's Hot!
In my opinion, Yamato is the best restuarant in all of Westwood.
Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere, Prices, Music
Cons: They close too damn early!
