Soooo good (and economical!)

I love Diddy Reese. I wish I could say that it has helped my waistline not being within walking distance of them anymore, but it hasn't. They have the best cookies and they're so cheap! I never allowed myself to get the infamous ice cream sandwich (two of their huge cookies and a huge scoop of ice cream) but I do get their cookies (usually more than one) when I'm in town.

If only.
If only college towns across the nation knew the magic that is Diddy Riese. Imagine a late night of (dare I say) substance consumption, you know, "relaxing after exams" and topping off the evening with the perfect snack. I'm not often in Westwood, but I was there this week when a friend suggested we get an Ice Cream sandwich. No way was I breaking my "diet" for any ordinary ice cream sandwich, I said, but as soon as this Diddy Riese cookie phenomenon was in my hands, I couldn't argue.
First you pick your cookies--all varieties from Chocolate Chip to Peanut Butter and Cinnamon Sugar (better known as the Snickerdoodle for Southerners, don't ask). If cookies weren't enough, then you pick your ice-cream flavor, and they've got all the standards plus a few wild cards. Then they mash it into a gooey sandwich and you hand them just one dollar, and the dribbly goodness begins.
One dollar, people. Nothing costs a dollar anymore, especially in L.A. And if it does, it sure aint a globbledy gloop of sweetness like they're serving up at Diddy Riese.
Go. Now.

I went to UCLA for undergrad and grad school, so I've been in and around Westwood for a long time. Diddy Riese is a great place that we were introduced to at freshman orientation. The cookies are delicious when they've cooled, but are heavenly when warm! If you're feeling especially decadent, get the cookie sandwich filled with Dreyer's ice cream for only $1! The prices are cheap, but not the quality of the cookies. Even usc students come out to Westwood just for a bite of these tasty treats.

Even before I got to UCLA, I'd heard of the famous Diddy Riese cookies - delicious yet cheap. Now, every time friends from other schools visit UCLA, this is the one place I make sure to take them to. And each time, they leave with bags full of cookies to take back to their friends and family. Definitely worth the walk down to Westwood (and the mere dollar for 3 cookies or an ice cream sandwich).

It's fairly easy to spot Diddy Riese in Westwood: look for the line outside the door -- particularly after dinner. The place is famous for its freshly-baked cookies (3 for $1, hard to beat that) but they also carry brownies and ice cream. Everything is reasonably priced. Since it's in the heart of Westwood Village, there are a ton of nearby businesses to visit. On the downside, however, it's tough to find parking.

This place really is THE best cookie place that I know. The turnover is so quick that the cookies are fresh everyday. They have all the flavor that you might want ranging from chocolate chip to cinamon sugar. Plus their prices is really really sweet!! 3 cookies for $1. Who can beat that?? They also have ice cream sandwiches with Dreyers' ice cream. Their price are unbeatable. You can judge by the line outside at all hours of the day.
