This is a good place to pop in and get a sandwich or salad, but watch out - seating is very limited and it can pack up quickly. Also, parking on 3rd street isn't easy, especially during the weekend rush. Joan's also has all kinds of prepared food to take home. I recommend the cupcakes - a bit pricier than the market but definitely better quality.

This bakery has some delicious and very American desserts. For example, you can get Hostess cupcakes here and marshmallow-covered treats. I love going to Joan’s On Third for lunch and getting salad and just watching the passersby outside. I love this bakery because it makes very ordinary food taste really, really good!

Now maybe I went on a bad day, and maybe I'm just too picky, but I did not enjoy my expensive cupcakes. I'll say that the ideas of a lot of them are very interesting and if they were more fresh they could be amazing. However, the 15 minute wait and the feeling of being ripped off didn't make the stale cupcake taste any better. I do have to say that the sit down food looked pretty appetizing, and that they had a lot of pre packed soups and such that could be very good. I'd like to go back again some day but if you go don't get too excited over the cupcakes.
