Five Star Tire is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
They have been wonderful. The mechanics were compeent and have worked endlessly helping me with the complex problems I had with my chrysler TC by Maserati. They have been generous and often done things withough charging. They remind me of the neighborhood mechanics I grew up with in New York.
Geroge the manager is very kind and helpful. I had an experience where I was told by another auto service dealer that I needed a new compressor for $700.00 to fix my AC. I brought it to Five Star for another opinion, George, the manager thought it didn't need all that work. As it turned out the Five Star mechanics fixed the problem perfectly for $48.00.!!!!!
They have always been helpful and never overcharged me. These guys are the best. I have sent friends to them and they have all called and thanked me.
I can't recommend them enough.
George has always treated me and my friends with respect and a willingness to try to solve the auto problems without breaking the bank.
Their name reflects who they are!!!!! Five Stars
Pros: Reliable and Reasonable

Be careful of these guys. The work that Five Star does is sloppy, and I'm not even sure they can be trusted to do the work you pay them to do. I went there a few weeks ago to have my car serviced, and they did a terrible job. First, I had a tire rotation, and within a few days two hubcaps fell off, and I lost them. When I went back there, the guy tried to tell me that it wasn't their fault, the hubcaps probably got stolen. Right. Then they replaced them with the cheapest hubcaps possible (to be fair, I could have waited for replacements, but I was about to move). I also had my air filter replaced and had a transmission system flush, with new fluids and kit etc. I just recently took my car somewhere else for an unrelated issue, and they told me that (1) one of the screws to hold in the air filter was missing and (2) the transmission fluid was dirty. (I did not even ask them to check the work that had been done by Five Star or, for that matter, even tell them ahead of time that I had had this work done.) So Five Star did a poor job with the tires and air filter, and possibly did not even replace the transmission fluid as I paid to have done. My roommate also went there in the past once for a flat tire, and they told him that the flat was caused by having worn-out tires, and that he should get new ones. He then took his car to another place, and it turned out to be simply a nail.
Pros: location
Cons: service

I've been in Hollywood 20 years. I will never go to any other shop. I've been going here for a few years and have always found their service to be excellent. Last year took my truck to get the front brakes replaced. They called me an hour later to tell me that my brakes were fine, come pick up my truck, no charge. No shop does that. Most shops will replace things and charge you for unnecessary repairs. In these tough times it nice for me to drop off my truck and know I'm gonna be treated right.
Pros: They get it done right the first time.
Cons: No free beer. JK haha.. None

I should have listened to others who told me to stay away before I became the next victim. Not only did they not fix the car correctly, they damaged other parts of it 3 times so I would have to bring it back to fix. My car is very new and all of a sudden after they worked on it, things started to "break." I took my car to a name shop who looked at the car showing me what they did. All I can say is STAY AWAY-- it will save you a major ongoing headache.
Pros: Friendly but be AWARE
Cons: Can't be trusted

My 2006 Toyota Corolla shut down on Robertson and I was forced to have AAA tow it to the closest open shop. Chris looked at my car and told me that he would have my car back to me by the following day. When I called him, he said that he was still ordering a part and he needed an extra day to put it in. The next day came and went and the excuses kept coming. Meanwhile, I had to rent a car and what originally was supposed to be a day's repair, ended up being over 11 days.
When I called back on the 11th, day, after Chris had promised me that it would be ready that day, I learned that Chris had the day off and no further work had been done on my car. George offered to fix it and promised me that it would be ready by the next day. The following day, I called George and he told me that there was something wrong with the computer that controls the car?s engine, and that he would have to order the part at a cost of $1,000. This is after Chris had told me he had already done this and learned that it wasn?t the computer after all. I then called Hollywood Toyota to verify the cost and Aaron told me that he knew exactly what the problem was since a number of 2006 Toyota?s had been experiencing the exact same issue. He said that he could fix it and get it back to me in a couple of hours ? the cost? COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!
What was maddening about Five Star is every time they promised to call me and let me know the status of the car, they didn't and I had to call each and every time to check on the car's progress. Further compounding the issue of poor customer service was when I told Chris on the 10th day that I needed to pick it up tomorrow and he had one more day to fix it. Chris didn't let me know that he wouldn't be at work tomorrow and just said okay.
Despite the other positive reviews about Five Star, which, after reading through them appear to be fake, I will never use Five Star Tires as my shop ever again.
Pros: None
Cons: Unreliable Service, Shoddy Work, and Poor Communication

Wow, I find the last user review very hard to believe. Five Star is known for its customer service. I've never been to a more trustworthy customer orientated auto shop in my life. Mike is the kindest person and gives amazing prices. I recently went to get my tires changed and what would have normally cost me $1200 for a set of tires only cost me $400 with installation. I will definitely be a customer for life here!
