What a great place. Vine achieves the great feat of having an eclectic selection & knowledgable staff without being pretentious or haughty. Their recommendations have always been spot on for me, whether it's wine for a party or a specific meal. Their tastings on Wednesday nights are a great time and a great way to learn about their wines for free.
Pros: knowledgeable staff, incredible selection, open every day, cool digs.
Cons: no delivery, no yellow tail (that is a con for some).

Small, quaint bar with an unexpected patio in the back. If I remember, about 4-5 beers on tap of varying flavors. Local artwork on the walls. The lighting and atmosphere in the bar is great. The menu, while not long, offers a pretty wide selection of food. The burgers were awesome as was our penne with vodka sauce (special). The staff was extremely friendly.
Pros: Food, atmosphere, service
Cons: Sidewalk/storefront could be cleaner.

Full of "characters" from the neighborhood, it's a fun place to meet up with friends or have a drink at the bar.
The service is always friendly and the food is consistent and good. From burgers, bar food to some decent Italian dishes, its worth a visit. Its a place you are always welcomed back.
Occasionally there is also live music and some awesome parties and karaoke on Friday nights. So, eat, drink and be merry at Juniors.
Pros: Consistent Food, Good Parking, Resonable Prices
Cons: A Walk From Train, No late night bus

Last night I was delightfully surprised by Tournesol, a small French restaurant in Long Island City. My friend, Neille Ilel, covers western Queens for the Queens Chronicle. When we decided to go out for dinner last night, she suggested we try L.I.C.. Having never socialized there before I was game, so off we went.
She suggested Tournesol, having heard that it was started by a former Maitre'd from Artisanal. It couldn't have been a better choice. The dishes were as good as any top end restaurant in Manhattan, such as Gotham or Grammarcy. We shared two appetizers, the Sautéed Calamares with Beets, and the Terrine of Duck Liver & Fig Chutney. The Fois Gras was delicious, but that always is. However, Neille declared that the Calamares was the best she ever had, and I would agree. It was lightly fried, more like sautéed and fresh and delicious. For dinner we shared Seared Skate with Red Cabbage and Mango Sauce and a white fish called Hake on top of a bean salad. The Skate was great. The "Mango" sauce was more of an apple/pineapple sauce. There was an apple compote in the middle of the red cabbage, and the entire dish was more like eating a hot desert than a main course. The Hake was a nice whitefish, but the bean salad under the Hake was out of this world. It was cold and fresh and served with asparagus on top of a small exposure to a yellow curry dressing.
By dessert we were stuffed, but I had to try the Isle Fleutant (sp?) ("Floating Island"). It was cold, sweet, light and mouth watering.
All in all, it was a great evening. The biggest and best surprise was the cost. In Manhattan, I have had dinners that are not the equal of this one for close to $200. Here, the main courses average $14 and the appetizers around $8. With a half carafe of wine, we got away for $75 bucks. It doesn't get much better than this.

we had our wedding at loft 11 (on the westside) but rather than use the in house caterer we found thomas preti. he was great to work with. the prices were reasonable. the service was excellent. and the food was probably the most commented upon thing after our wedding. dont be afraid of the long island city location - its just over the 59th street bridge and is real easy to get to

This quaint little diner is a welcomed environment for the agoraphobic. No wide-open spaces and a balcony seating area overlooking the deep fryer. Coming through the front door you will more than likely be greeted by one of the Joses [there are two] and asked if you will be dining in. Offering pickup and delivery within the area, Metro puts fries, fowl, and falafel at your fingertips. I do suggest you try the falafel; so far its the best I have tasted in Queens.
A good hearty breakfast can run you $3.50 excl. tip, but get there early on the weekends. This spot has the potential to get packed with locals who cant cook and hairy chested construction workers. Dont fret they are friendly, the counter people are bilingual and very family oriented. If you tip well they will take you to their leader.
PROS: Quaint, near R train
CONS: Service can be slow while dining in
