We placed an order for the 4-6pm Friday window. Forty minutes after this window, the driver called said something we could not understand and then never appeared. We called customer service and they said he "tried." The order was then suppose to arrive between 9-11am Saturday so we changed our plans and once again, no delivery. We called customer service and were told the driver called our cell and we failed to answer. The cell phone number they have shows no record of such a call. We're now on our third deliver window and still no food. In the past our orders are usually just missing items, but this is ridiculous and we will not use them again. Pros: Seeing as nothing has arrived I can't find a pro Cons: Poor Delivery Service for not so great product

I am sorry to have to write this to you but I must. I was reluctant to order the steamed lobsters again because of the bad experience with the undercooked lobsters of the day before. When I spoke with their representative I was assured that the undercooked lobster was a 'fluke' and she assured me that the next order will be perfectly cooked. So I kept this order in place and we looked forward to having the two lobsters for dinner tonight. Shocked! Disappointed! Appalled! These lobsters are SOFT SHELLED LOBSTERS not the regular Hard Shelled Lobsters sold at fish mongers and offered in ALL restaurants. These soft shelled lobsters are full of sea water, so their actual weight of meat is just a few ounces..the rest being water and shell. When a lobster has a soft shell, it's because it's beginning to molt and it is ready to take on a lot of water in its tissue. Until the hard shell is formed, the lobster meat is very watery. Soft shelled lobsters are NOT sold in restaurants nor are they sold by retail fish stores for this reason. Soft shelled lobsters are CHEAPER because there's not as much meat, because it hasn't filled in it's shell yet. The FISH MONGER AT FRESH DIRECT should be ashamed of himself. Promoting these steamed lobsters without saying they are water filled soft shelled...every customer rightfully assumes they were hard shelled. Disgraceful! Fresh Direct is slowly going down the tubes. Quality of your food is deteriorating and deceptive marketing is found in every department. I was charged for the items and when I called customer service (a horrible experience) I was given credit toward my next order... when they did the same thing all over again. I have used FreshDirect for about a year and a half. For the first few months, other than being late a few times, they were great. Lately, they have been having serious problems: 1. My orders were seriously mixed up in October and again in January. 2. DISHONEST---cheez its are listed as a larger box than what is delivered......I have reported this and it has not been fixed. 3. Poor customer service When I called customer service---they didn't apologize and they reluctantly issued me credits. I received an e-mail saying that the credits would be applied to my next order. I began my next order and the credits were NOT applied as the e-mail clearly stated. I called and the credits were reissued. Okay, people make mistakes. That's fine---it was annoying to have to waste my time calling after I was already sitting with an inaccurate\incomplete order. THIS WHOLE CYCLE HAPPENED AGAIN in January. Twice is too much for me. Pros: Convienient Cons: Lack of customer service. Very poor quality of customer service.

Been using them often in the last year. Order screw ups occur about 1/3 of the time: missing items, broken eggs, bad produce, missing box, late delivery. Once when I was alone with my 1 week old baby, they didn't bother to show up at all (no apology when I called them 30 minutes after the time window but they DID offer to reschedule delivery for 2 days later!) If I need something for a recipe or a meal on the day of delivery, I don't chance it by ordering from fresh direct. It's really only worth it for me to avoid carrying the large items and only when they offer free delivery. Pros: avoid fairway Cons: disorganized, socially inept

They'll never get another dollar from me! Everytime I ordered from Fresh Direct, I always said something to myself along the lines of "I'll give them one last chance", simply because it's easier than dragging groceries home from Fairway. This time, my order was scheduled to be delivered between 3-6pm. I called them at 6:05pm to check on the status of my order. The lady who answered the phone didn't even ask for my order # or account info. Instead, she rudely said, "We deliver in NYC ma'am. They're doing the best they can." As I was about to leave for the evening, my doorbell finally rang at 6:55pm. It was the doorman from two doors down with my order! Turns out they delivered to the wrong address at 3:05pm! I called FD again. They told me 'mistakes happen' and that they could only reimburse me for the perishable items. What?!?! How about taking accountability for your mistakes?! On top of that, it's been 20+ days since that happened, and still no reimbursement in sight. TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT! Day 1 - they should have arrived between 8-10 and they arrived at 11am, bringing diet ice tea instead of regular one. Day 2 - they were supposed to bring the regular tea between 8-10am, they arrived at 10.10am bringing same DIET tea instead of regular and asked for Day 3. Day 3 - they still gave me a 2 hour window (so, we are now at 7 hours total waiting for the stupid regular snapple) and.... window was 6-8pm. It is now 8PM and... guess what???? They are not here..... THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN. Okay I am European and a food snob, but for god's sake, I spent more than 7 hours of my life waiting for the stupid tea?????? Let's face it - New York is not the best place to shop for groceries. The prices are high, the quality streaky and the stores often dirty, and inaccessible. Enter Fresh Direct. Clean, fresh, competitively priced food delivered to your door for five bucks. It's as good as it's going to get in New York. I have used Fresh Direct (FD) for four years and recommend it enthusiastically. The food from FD is fresh and of the highest quality 99% of the time. If it is not for some reason, one simply calls the 800 number and the items are credited, or re-delivered if the amount is large enough. I always get my groceries delivered Friday and if something is amiss (i.e. broken eggs, sour half and half, missing tuna) FD always makes it right no questions asked. Re-deliveries arrive Saturday for me, or credits are there for next week's order. The driver I have is a nice guy. Some of the substitutes have been real New Yorkers, but so what. Other reviews have said that "thugs" delivered their order. If that is the case, call the 800 number and complain. FD will listen. Since FDs labor problems began a few months ago, the number of items in stock has declined, but until the Union issues get worked out, I am willing to give them a chance. Further, one can still get what they need to eat. I can personally survive on only 6 selections of cheddar cheese and I am not about to start carrying cases of water to my apartment every week. FD does it for me. A case of Poland Spring, Volvic and Diet Coke? Same flat-rate delivery fee of $5. Unbelievable. I am not willing to go back to fighting idiots in Waldbaums for sub-par food or driving to New Hyde Park or Manhassett for better quality - only to have to carry 15 bags and several cases to my co-op. I figure FD saves me 2-3 hours a week. That means they give me several weekend days a year back to me. Thanks FD. Pros: Reliable, clean, fresh food Cons: Not many.

I have used the service - in Inwood - up past the GW Bridge - for more than a year and a half and I am thrilled with it. I am astounded by reviews that don't acknowledge the phenomenon that this service is. The prices are always reasonable and competitive, the variety of items (produce, seafood, meat, prepared meals, etc.) is always exceptional. The comprehensive information regarding ingredients and nutrition is invaluable. and the ease of operation of the site is so very much appreciated. I have had great organic produce, beautiful fresh local seafood - a huge variety available - i.e. Nantucket scallops, steamer clams, littlenecks, giant prawns, bluefish, creative box lunches that rocked, whole wheat pesto portobello mushroom pizza that is outrageous, exotic fruit, excellent bakery items like rosemary ciabatta rolls (par baked) and semolina loaves. My experience with customer service has been unmatchable. Any minor problem (i.e. regular avocados sent instead of the organic ones orderd), and they ask no questions, just credit your account. They were 15 minutes late - once in all that time - are always reliable - their drivers are wholesome, personable, friendly and kind. I find it incomprehensible that anyone could not be ecstatic with such an extraordinary service that offers huge variety, delivery, price and quality. This is no ordinary service - truly - it is so well organized, providing delivery of heavy cases of water, canned goods, wines, drugstore and grocery items, fabulous meats, etc. Just wanted to go on record about it because they are doing a great job!
