Cinco de Mayo - $6 margarita specials - we totally were up to stop after work. After walking through the nice interior, we found ourselves in a cozy garden area busy with patrons. After waiting some time, we ordered the $6 margaritas, and then some burgers. After waiting a full hour, we received the meal and both burgers were cold, with one order entirely wrong. At this point we complained, but ate what was in front of us in hopes of getting out of there ASAP. THEN -- we get the bill. Not only did he charge us for a side order of something we didn't order, he charged us $1 more for each burger and, somehow the $6 margaritas were now $7. We brought this to their attention and the extra charge and one margarita was taken off the bill. However, the burgers and the margaritas were still priced wrong. We complained again, so our waiter adjusted the price but included the margarita he had initially removed. The customer service practices at Lounge 47 are simply horrendous. We expect more. It was wrong the way they handled the situation and as a paying customer, I'm happy to bring my business elsewhere. We wanted to like this quaint cozy quirky joint, but the service just wasn't up to par. We enjoy the lchill atmosphere of LIC, but LIC has to remember we're still New Yorkers. What a bummer... I'm from the July 2nd crowd and I was also the birthday person. Not complaining about the food at all because it was very good. However, my friend went with another group shortly after this date and the complaint was also the service. Bad attitude and do not really know how to accomodate customers. What gets me the most is the fact of how the waitress asked me to giver her a gratuity when I had paid for my guests and they decided to leave her the gratuity after. Obviously she couldn't wait. Its the customers decision whether to leave a tip or not. In this case she certainly didn't deserve it. I've yet to write a letter to the owner and another review in Zagats about this type of behavior. Im actually turned off by the place, however the wasabi develed eggs are the best. Not sure if I would go back...I might..but then I would probably say something from this bad experience. Pros: outside garden Cons: stuck up attitude service

I've been to Lounge 47 countless times. I usually end up going there when I'm giving someone a tour of the neighborhood. Its always a safe bet. I hate using the word "safe" since that implies boring...but its not boring food. It just caters to a wide variety of tastes so even if you have a large group of people everyone will find something they like on the menu (from regular diner style foods to different ethnic dishes...all yummy!). The mixed drinks are on the pricey side but they're worth it, always strong and tasty. Love the Long Island City Iced Tea! This isn't a romantic, candle-lit restaurant but it makes for a nice, casual date spot for someone you've gone out with a few times already. Its also good for groups but there may be a little wait until some tables clear. The outside seating area can accomodate large groups in the summer, though. Good crowd (no bridge n tunnel folks, yeay!), good music (never loud) and good food.....these are the things that keep me going back! P.S. The brunch is just as great as the regular food with a varied menu (from Irish Breakfast to Huevos Rancheros!). Pros: Good food, Good crowd, Casual Setting Cons: None

We sat in the garden area which was small, but comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed the cocktails and ordered a number of appetizers, which were very tasty and delicious. Upon our second order of appetizers we order the shredded pork with red onion is a tortilla shell. The dish was a bit dry and we asked the waitress for some salsa or tasting sauce. She indicted that it wasn't dry and that it didn't come with any salsa or tasting sauce, but she could get us some lemon. We asked again for some type of sauce and she insisted that it was not way the dish was suppose to be eaten. Finally, one of my friends told her to take the dish back and replace it with something else. When we were getting ready to leave, another friend decided to pay the bill, she walked over to the waitress, handed the waitress her credit card, signed the receipt and returned to the table. The waitress approached my friend and asked why she didn't include a tip. My friend's respons was "you will get a tip". The plan was to give her a cash tip, which come to about 20%. As we all walked out together, we passed the waitress who NEVER thanked any of us. We enjoyed the place, food and drinks, but unfortnately, the waitress' attitude put a BIG damper on the celebration and some of us are thinking twice about going back. The backyard is nice during the summer, though it does tend to get crowded. The drink selection is pretty good, though I usually just get a nice cold pint. The staff is pretty laid-back and friendly. The food is a hit-or-miss for me, maybe I'm just picky. I'd recommend it for dinner but not brunch. Pros: nice digs, comfy, fun, nice backyard

My friends thought the mixed drinks were subtle and cool but hey I'm a beer lover. The decor is great, and a change from the mirrorball monstrosity across the road. All in all the kind of bar to come home to after feeling used and abused in Manhattan... Pros: food, decor, friendly
