Acres of Books is located in a vintage warehouse building on Long Beach Blvd. The doors swing open and you see hundreds of plain wooden bookstacks reaching to the ceiling. On each stack is loaded book shelved upright on sides and then smaller texts are tucked in around them. The store is organized with little paper tags that look like they are decades old. The original owner had to take on the city to keep his store and the new owners have kept the same casual look and tons of texts. Make sure you have hours of time to browse because the store literally has hundreds of titles in the smallest subtopic. The shelving is unique in that you might have a book that came out a few months ago shelved with a rare title on the same topic sitting side by side. The store also has prints and art plates taken from books. The staff is most helpful. Parking is on the street, but there usually is not a problem finding a place. Highest recommendation!

Last time I dined at L'opera was a few months ago and I thought it was superb. I came back just last week for a quick lunch and I found new, interesting items on the Summer Menu that I didn't expect.
Lower prices, more varieties for Steak lovers (like the Bistecca al Gorgonzola, yummy and tasty) & three different Veal Scaloppine for the joy of palate.
I even found special pre-set menus (Recession lunch & dinner) to cheer us up in this bad financial period..I'm always positively surprised when a high end restaurant like L'Opera bothers to make sure customers will find pleasure every time with its creative cuisine and even offers discounts (like the half off valet at lunch).
I'll come back for my new favorite soup (the ceci with rock shrimp) and the exceptional desserts.

A True Dining Experience
I took my family and guests from New York to the Madison 3 weeks ago on a Friday evening Oct. 10, 2008 for my wife's 30th birthday. When we arrived we were in awe of the beauty of this gorgeous restaurant.
We ordered champagne and each of us ordered a different appetizer so we could all sample the menu, I must say I thought I was back in NY the food and presentations were so good. We then ordered our salads, I had a wonderful tomato with gorg. cheese it was fantastic.
The entree stole the show we had the porterhouse for two and the bone in ribeye for two, simply delicious.
The total dining experience was a 10 with only one small issue, it took about 20 min from our salads to the serving of the entrees but we truly enjoyed this jewel of a place.
I highly recommend this restaurant if you really are looking for a dining experience.

This is a great family owned authentic Mexican restaurant. The food is outstanding and the service is good as well. The prices are reasonable. The Margaritas are very good - a must for recommendation from me. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants.

This restaurant is fusion of American meets South American and Cuban food. Very Good! Prices are great. The atmosphere makes you feel like you are in South America. The service is super friendly. They also have live music. We heard a flamenco fusion band. Great talent. Afterwards you are further rewarded by walking right onto the sand for a beach stroll. So romantic! I would recommend to everyone.

What a find! It's a small cozy spot on the trendy 2nd street area of Belmont Shores in Long Beach. Sit anywhere you like, and ready to be served wonderful Italian dishes. The pasta is so fresh. I always have a great time whenever I come by here. If you are watching your carb intake, their menu features all pasta type of dishes, except for a few of their appetizer. Love this spot!

This was a gift for by birthday and we were lucky enough to be seated near the window. Service could have been a little better but the food was excellent and well worth the cost. Everything was fresh and even the meat was excellently prepared. If the owner is reading please improve the service and everything will then be perfect. I am going again soon and am looking forward to the great variety and freshness of the food,

I lived in No Carolina and their food is right on. Memphis BBQ, Kansas City BBQ, Texas BBQ, have nothing compared to the roadside family BBQ of Johnny Reb's. I try to imitate at home and my home cooking doesn't even come close.

I have been going to LB for years to find fun places and this one warrented a review. If you like a place with a view then look no further. It's at the top of the Breakers hotel and has the best view on LB! You have to go in the evening and watch the sunset.
Besides the great view there is live music, dancing, good martinis, a GREAT wine list, delicious food and impecible service.
Try the Gnocchi!
Pros: AWESOME VIEW AND WINE LIST!
Cons: I can't believe I didn't know about it before!
