The Queen Mary is one of the landmark attractions of Long Beach, along with one of its most notorious debtors. The famed ocean liner is a neat place to visit, and it is a definite must to take out of town visitors to the observation deck for a drink. Admission is $10, but free after dark. Parking is somewhere around $8, but there are free shuttles from downtown LB, so that's a good option. The rooms are cool, still vintage but clean. They are small, but it is a trip to be on the boat.

You can visit the boat during the day, but you have to pay a hefty entrance fee. There are different things to look at, and restaurants and bars to eat and drink at.

While a bit pricey, the Queen Mary is a So Cal must see. Explore the engine room, private quarters, old staterooms of this ship that is larger than the titanic. Take a self guided or the elusive guided tour around the 40's era legend. The ship is rumored to be haunted and is marked with plaques all around about its numerous ghost sightings. There is a ghost tour full of Disneyesque special effects and for the morbid, walk down to the isolation ward to learn about all of the different deaths on board, and view the embalming equipment used on these late passengers. The restaurants range from casual to fine dining and staying in the hotel is a creepy treat, though somewhat expensive. Ask for one of the recently remodeled rooms.
