This restaurant is my favorite Japanese restaurant anywhere in Metro Detroit. I have been to Japan and I know sushi, and this sushi is fresh, delicious, and creative. They also have incredible steak teriyaki-I think it's Kobe beef. It is a small steak, but delicious. The restaurant is always full of Japanese people. They have tatami rooms for groups of 8 or more-if you're in a group, make sure to eat there. It's a very traditional Japanese style of dining. They have specials written in Japanese that are not on the menu-you can ask your waitress, and she will explain them to you. They also have nightly specials and lunch specials. I love the chirashi. Their menu is very extensive, and if you've had something at a Japanese restaurant, they can make it. Their sushi chefs have studied in Japan. I believe this is the best Japanese food you'll ever eat.

I went here before and the fish was alright, the atmosphere is definitely authentic but the service was awful. We waiting about a half hour just to have drink orders taken. We waited forever for a menu, she forgot to give us our miso soup and 2 of the rolls we had ordered. Then after being there for too long, we got our check and she charged us for food we never recieved so she fixed it. Finally, due to bad service, we went to tip her about 10-12% and gave her the check. She came back to us and told us we made a mistake, that we didnt tip her enough!!! She showed us at the top how much we should tip, 20% at least. I thought that was extremely rude and I havent gone back since. There are a lot of other sushi places with fresh fish and great atmosphere along with great service, not to mention better prices.
Pros: Fresh fish, authentic atmosphere
Cons: Service, Service, Uptight atmosphere.

well i have to say i am impressed, growing up a block from the beach and sportfishing for tuna my whole life i was skeptical about detroits sushi. the tuna and yellowtail here are great and i've lived in cali and florida and they don't cut their pieces any bigger. all the food ive had here has been great, seaweed as refreshing as could be , miso good as any traditional eatery. i also never compliment the front of house ,old b.o.h. ways die hard but here i will say they are great friendly relaxed and quite prompt

We were seated promptly. The atmosphere was good for a restaurant located in a strip mall. I ordered from the Sushi Menu, my partner ordered the mixed e tempura. The Miso soup was excellent. The salad was poor- iceberg lettuce should be used as a garnish- and this lettuce somewhat wilted and brown- with a mystery dressing probably made of rice wine vinegar and peanut butter, as near as we could guess. The sushi was fresh for the region ( I moved here from California where most the sushi was VERY fresh- so I am somewhat spoiled!) but the portions were very small and very overpriced. I ordered the sashimi platter - the variety was lacking- only three types of sashimi- and the California roll was bland (why ALL Japanese restaurants insist on using fake crab - "Krab" - in their sushi rolls is beyond me - monkfish is NOT crab!). My partner's tempura was excellent- large portions, cooked to perfection and not at all greasy.
Pros: Quiet, nice location good for a romantic dinner or conversation
Cons: Over-priced, small portions of sushi/sashimi
