As someone who works within walking distance, I must say that Masons is the absolute best place to have a beer and burger at lunchtime. The food is served quickly and the draft beer comes in actual mason jars. The decor pays homage to local businesses and the patrons are mostly people that work along the semi-industrial stretch of I-96 through Livonia. The only downside to Masons is the utter darkness inside the bar (there aren't any windows). When you leave into the outer world you are temporarily blinded for about 30 seconds while your eyes adjust to the change in light.
