Good: My family and I ate at the Dakota Restaurant in Latham on Saturday night. It was absolutely amazing!! We havent been there in a while b/c we recently moved back into the area. Our server was outstanding and our food was perfect!! We also split an Amazing pice of Carrot Cake, by far the best I have had in years. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a great meal, and outstanding service!!.

Good: My family and I ate at the Dakota Restaurant in Latham on Saturday night. It was absolutely amazing!! We havent been there in a while b/c we recently moved back into the area. Our server was outstanding and our food was perfect!! We also split an Amazing pice of Carrot Cake, by far the best I have had in years. This is one of our favorites when we need a solid, reliable meal. The decor is rustic Adirondack, with dark paneling. The food and bar selections are varied and almost all are very good, if not excellent quality. The highlights are: excellent salad bar, bison bread, combo dinners, excellent service. If you know what you want and are quick to decide, let the server know, and you can get in and out in under an hour (outside of the prime time of 6:30 to 8:00 pm). The portions are big enough so we always have another meal to enjoy. They are not cheap (dinner for two averages between $45 to $70, depending on drinks and dessert), but comparable to others at that quality level. Well worth it.

Dakota is a chain restaurant, but unless you happened to know that you probably would not expect it. My family used to frequent their Massachusetts location frequently and thought that it was a privately owned restaurant. When we saw the Colonie location we were sure to visit it. Dakota has really nice steaks. My parents got their special cut, which turned out to be huge fat steaks. I got kabobs, and though they were not a lot of meat, they were enough food for me. The reason for that was because they have a superb salad bar, which comes with each meal. The salad bar will definitely fill you up before you get to your steak.

This restaurant has a friendly and peaceful atmosphere. The decor is like outdoor/Adirondack. The food is very expensive and the portions that you get are very small and not that great tasting. They do have an excellent salad bar that comes with almost every meal. That is about the only positive that I have to say about the place. The waitresses were nice and friendly. I do not think I would return here again.
