I was there with my husband on Saturday night , my waitress's name was Joann. Very friendly and sweet... She recommended filets, which we both had. Very tender, salad could have been a little fresher, but we would most definitly go back and request Joann.

Koto has a great menu. You can sit on your own or choose to be at the grill where they cook in front of you. There sushi is unbelievable and they have a huge selection. They do not have free re-fills on drinks which can add up fast if you are having a soft drink. I would recommend them for a great lunch or dinner.

We took our son from RPI to the Dakota after a day of setting him up in his apartment. It was a Friday an we had to wait about 45 minutes...it was worth it. The food was tremendous. The salad bar was large and fresh and every steak we had was cooked to perfection!

This is the best sushi in the area and I know this because I've been to all of them. Owner Yoshi came to the capital district about 10 years ago. He started working at Ginza (which is now gone) and then opened his own place in a plaza on rt9. It is quaint with only a four tables and a sushi bar and not particularly beautiful inside, but the sushi is ALWAYS top notch. I care less about what a place looks like to its quality of food.
The sushi is never old, ALWAYS fresh and eight out of ten times you could slice the tuna with your tongue its so tender. Lets face it, good sushi really is all about the fish, and Yoshi obtains and prepares it correctly. His hand rolls are also very interesting - in particular ask him for a spicy salmon hand roll (its not on the menu).
The prices are very good, especially if you arrive for lunch. There is a filling $6 lunch box that comes with soup and salad. The dinner box is equally a good deal. You are generally automatically served soup and salad with any meal.
Overall you really couldn't ask for more. Excellent food, well prepared and not expensive. The only down side is perhaps that they don't have a liquor license, but Yoshi doesn't mind if your bring your own bottle. This is one of my top five favorite restaurants in the area. I eat here weekly. DEFINATELY go check it out.

I have never been unhappy with my food or service at this diner. It just rocks. They serve breakfast all day and are open 24 hours, so whenever you get off of work or get the munchies they are available. There is a good selection of sandwiches and entrées on the menu as well, and the prices are about the same as other diners in the area. They also have great coffee!

Vanilla Bean is by far the best bakery that I have found. Their fruit tarts, cakes and pastries are as delicious as they look. There is enough variety that everyone is sure to find something of interest. My favorite is their fruit tart with just enough sweet gelatin to hold everything in the moist crust. Vanilla Bean also sells wedding cakes and a variety of cookies. They have a second location in Troy, but at the Latham store you can sit down to a full serve dinner. If you choose to dine here, be sure to leave room for dessert, no matter how good their food is, its dessert that’s certain to be the best part of your meal!

I've been going to Yoshi for at least 10 years now every tuesday for the best sushi. This restaurant is small but nice and the food is always fantastic. The owners, Yoshi and his wife run this exceptional japanese restaurant. I truly think Yoshi Sushi has the best sushi in Latham, Ny.
Pros: Best sushi in the Capital District.
Cons: Sometimes there is a long wait for takeout but this is rare.

Good: My family and I ate at the Dakota Restaurant in Latham on Saturday night. It was absolutely amazing!! We havent been there in a while b/c we recently moved back into the area. Our server was outstanding and our food was perfect!! We also split an Amazing pice of Carrot Cake, by far the best I have had in years. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a great meal, and outstanding service!!.

Elegant atmosphere, just like being in the Shaker Museum but with great food. The wait staff was really friendly and the owner even greeted us a the door and took us to our table. Bella Napoli's has been very consistent. We usually order an Italian Rum Cake for our birthdays. Very moist - sometimes they can be dry but not at Bella Napoli's. Another one of our favorites is their cheesecake - very creamy. It's easy to see why they are so popular. They can be pretty busy on the weekends and around the holidays - but don't let the long lines sway you away, they actually move pretty fast.
