I've been here several times, and service has been satisfactory. I went in a group of 20 people before for a friend's birthday and they were able to accommodate all of us. Service is a bit slower than other restaurants if there are many customers. The food is not all that exceptional, but I enjoy it because it seems to be a Hawaiian-Japanese fusion restaurant. I would recommend them for anyone looking for someplace new to try out in downtown La Jolla.

I've been here at least ten times and while the plates are some of the best deals you can get in town the sushi is horribly overpriced for the amount of food you actually get. Plan on spending at least $25 for sushi rolls to even get full--and I'm a petite girl with a normal appetite! While I give them points for creativity and ambience, I can't help but feel a little foolish paying so much for so little. I also noticed they cut their rolls with a lot of fake crab so this is the first place I've tried to make a spicy scallop roll with a mixture of mostly fake crab dotted with the occasional scallop. The nigiris are even worse as they are sliced like sheets of vellum and priced like Sushi Ota's. Take my word and stick to their spare rib plate and spam musubi.
Pros: Great Hawaiian plates
Cons: Horribly overpriced under-quality sushi

We have been to 30! sushi restaurants in the area, and NEVER have we seen such thin, small pieces of sushi ! Especially for such a large dollar amount! It would make sense if it was $1 per sushi, for the small amount would make dollar sense, but this restuarant is STRICTLY handing out paper thin sushi in order to cover their bills,...........thats too bad, for it will never bring back a customer! or any referrals.....

Aloha sushi has some delicious and unique rolls. I woiuld recommend their JLo roll. It is a nice atmosphere and is decently priced. They have a nice indoor and outdoor seating area too.

Lunch specials at Aloha are unique and very well-priced, with a sushi roll, teriyaki, miso soup, and lumpia. The combination of these two cuisines (Hawaiian and Japanese) is unique but down-to-earth. The service is very friendly, and usually quite fast if there isn't a large crowd, which on weekend evenings there is, because the food is so good!
Great atmosphere for families on the outdoor patio, or a classier setting inside the restaurant.
