The museum of contemporary arts in San Diego has two locations. The one in downtown La Jolla displays mainly paintings and the one in downtown San Diego often displays more installations or sculptures. La Jolla’s MCASD locates around a residential area, but there is a great view of the beach from the back yard. The one in downtown has TNT event at every first Thursday of the month. It is a very energetic event.

This museum definetely has some "modern" art, but I have always had trouble grasping when things become art. I say it's art if it took some talent or creativity to make it. They say it's art if you paint a wall green... how curious

The Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla displays very modern art. If you are not into canvases painted one color, this might not be the place for you. Some of the other exhibits were interesting, but odd to call art, such as the line of stainless steel garbage cans and tea kettles. The sculpture garden in the back is fun, and the ocean view is spectacular. I have to admit my favorite part of this art museum was the gift shop. They have a great variety of books, cards, and jewelery.
