Great place to see non-mainstream indie flicks that matter.
It's part of the LandMark chain, but more of an indie film house that caters to people with sophisticated taste.
The prices are very practical and parking is great. It's located near so many nice places to eat that it's a great way to spend a weekend afternoon or evening with friends.

Maybe i'm a little biased, but I happen to think that the Mandell-Weiss Center for the Performing Arts is a great place to catch a good show. It is on the UC San Diego campus, which makes it even more special. There usually always a show playing; and though it doesn't seat too many people, the intimate setting just makes the play that much more special and entertaining. I definitely recccomend watching anything here, but maybe i'm just a fan of anything live.

More
The Museum of Contemporary Art is not for the people who are into the classic art of the Renaissance and other similar eras. You wont find any of that kind of art in this museum. Instead, you will find lots of modern art that caters to perhaps a younger generation of art lovers. Photography seems to be the main type of art on display in this museum; however there are lots of sculptures as well. You have to think very much out of the box when you visit this museum, because it is not what you typically consider art. It is a great place for a field trip, especially for children or adults studying modern art. You will really gain a new understanding, and a new outlook on the world of art, with just one visit. The museums gift shop is probably one of the best parts about the museums. It is large, with lots of items from the small and relatively inexpensive (not cheap, this is a museum after all), to the outrageously expensive and over the top. What might be one of the best parts about this museum is its location, close to the beautiful beaches and expensive homes in La Jolla, its in the center of everything, and the scenery that surrounds it, is absolutely breathtaking.

This is definitely a must-see location if you're in the San Diego area. It's not too far from the Pacific Beach and Mission Beach communities. Also this is right next to UCSD campus. The place is known for the parasailing school that sits on the top of the hill. If you drop in at a reasonable hour you're likely to see several people parasailing at once. I'm not quite current on the price if you want to actually do parasailing but I'm pretty sure you can at least expect triple digits. You've got a great view of the entire coast line and there is even a trail along the side that takes you down to a surfers point. The trail is rather long and narrow so make sure you have the appropriate footwear. Definitely bring a jacket as the wind can make things a bit chilly. It is gravel and dirt parking so watch out if you got a really nice car.

I have been to this place in the UCSD REMAC. The place is having a huge Hokey & foot ball stadium. This was used as a Picnic spot by Qualcomm for its annual picnic. Was a great outdoor place with lots of parking area & no traffic congestions while returning home. This huge place has a occupancy of more than 7 thousand people.

The movie theater located within the Price Center at UC San Diego periodically offers $3 which are available to everyone. Typically running on Tuesday and Thursdays, the movies played are usually movies that are no longer in theaters, but not yet available to rent. The theater itself is spacious (often full!) and the crowds are respectful. I would recommend catching a movie at the Price Center to movie buffs and anyone looking for a cheap date!
