Calcopy is family owned not a mega business like Kinko's AND yet, it manages to offer cheaper prices! The staff have worked there for years and so it is great to walk in year after year and see the same faces behind the counter...YES the pace of service is not like a fastfood place but hey, enough of that hyper efficient/ hyper exploited labor working for a faceless corporation. So when I wanted to take my infant daughter for a passport photo shot guess where I went? to Calcopy and sure enough it was an unhurried experience with several retakes and no stress. UCSD's young impatient undergrads should learn to value small businesses before they disappear all together and leave us to the mercy of pristine, soul-less kinkos.

The managers are inept, slow, and quite unfriendly. Purchasing ONE reader (and I've purchased many from them) proves to be a highly unpleasant experience.
They only take cash, which will normally force you to get cash at the ATM in the liquor store adjacent to it (+ a lovely surcharge), the lines are longest when you need something from them, their hours leave something to be desired, and their efficiency system reminds me of Neanderthals tinkering around with flint.
As a UCSD student, you will probably have to venture into this lair of discomfort, no question. But if you're anything like me, you will undoubtedly leave with an unpalatable taste in your mouth.

You can copy, get readers for classes, make your own readers or anything in between. The lines can get kinda long near the start of the UCSD school year, but it's a great deal.

Cal Copy is a conveninent location to make all your copies of textbooks so you don't have to pay those outrageous prices. Located right next to UCSD, its probably best used by students. A lot of professors place readers there. The staff is friendly and able to answer most questions you have pertaining to copying school material and so on.
PROS: Easy and Cheap
CONS: Not on Campus

Cal Copy is so close to UCSD, professional businesses and residences that it makes it very convenient to use their photocopying, faxing, and computer services. They also do passport photos, which is great for a person who wants a one-stop trip. Many of the professors utilize Cal Copy to order materials for their classes so it is best to be familiar with it if one attends UCSD. There are coupons to make it so that black and white copies are cheaper so you may try to get some before you go and make a lot of copies! Same quality as Kinkos, lower price!

Most UCSD students know this place, because they have to purchase their readers for their classes. But if you’re like me and are fed up with places like Kinkos, then you can come here to get your copies done here. They are relatively cheap, especially if you have coupons from the student dollar stretcher booklets.

I like to go to Cal Copy’s when I have their coupons which will state 4 cents for B&W print (A4). Coupons are printed in the Dollarstrechers which will be passed out almost every quarter and or in the school’s newspaper, Guardian. Their price is cheaper than Kinko’s. One of the great services they have is making copy for students. When I had classes that require buying readers I always ask other people if they want to share the expense. Then we only need to buy one reader at original price, then have Cal Copy help us to make print. This way we save a lot of $. We only needed to pick my requested copies up from them.

Whenever I have literature/humanities courses, I have to go to this place to buy my readers. Prices are average for the most part. If you're an UCSD student and you have the Student Dollar Stretcher coupon booklet, you should definitely check out Cal Copy's coupons. Sometimes, they have a deal where you can make copies for only $0.035 per page which is the best deal I have ever found in San Diego.

This place has it all. You can photocopy, fax, print, and use the computer at this store. It is cheaper than Kinkos or Copy Club. It is totally worth it. Unfortunately, the store hours is different from Kinkos. This place is not 24-hour as it is family owned I am guessing.
Also, it sells Readers for University like UCSD. Their reader is chepear than the one provided by school. The one provided by school is totally not worthed. If you can, buy it here. It's cheaper and better.
