After moving to south county, I was disappointed in the lack on Indian cuisine. I was used to going to Delhi Palace or Mother India at least once a week. So I was really excited when Natraj opened up. Neither my wife or I enjoyed the taste of the food, compared to other Indian restaurants, but that was a minor point compared to finding a staple in the mater paneer! Worse, when we told the waiter, we received no apology, no offer of a replacement dish, or anything really, beyond an acknowledged "Oh. Okay." Sorry, just a really bad first impression for a restaurant.

Located in the back corner of the strip mall--next to Big Lots!--you'd never expect to find such delicately crafted cuisine. Although I have noticed some variation of quality over the years...a slight change of recipes now & again--my husband and I always come back. Tony, one of the managers, has gotten to know us very well over the years, and he's got our order memorized--as well as what's been happening in our lives since the last time we visited! The personal service & familiar faces make Natraj feel like home to us, and I'd recommend them to anyone. Our favorite appetizer: the pankrian kabob (or, spicy chicken wings), and for dinner we love the chicken tikka masala. I'm making myself hungry now.... Yum!

I love this resturant. Since I had already heard such good things about it, I had high expectations. But I was not let down, no siree! The staff is very friendly (even on a very busy night) and helpful. The founder, Vijay Kholsa was seating everyone and he was very funny and personable. The food is excellent. People in south orange county don't have much to choose from in the way of Indian food; we are so blessed to have Natraj! The atmosphere is so-so, i prefer a little less lighting, but it didn't bother me. The booths look nice to sit in; we had a table but that didn't bother me either! The service was a bit slow - i don't think they were expecting such a turn-out for Valentine's Day dinner - and so my saag paneer wasn't piping hot, but it was good. Amazingly that didn't get to me either, maybe because i wanted to like this place so much and i do! All in all, a very pleasant and delicious experience. I will definitely be going back on a less busy occasion and then will be happy to give it a perfect review.
