I have been to 5 Foot before, but we'd ordered off the menu. Last night, the three of us went for the 12-course tasting 'Menu without a Menu.' Chef Kang came up and greeted us and asked if we had any special requirements. My girlfriend (who had not eaten there before) mentioned she was a vegetarian and was allergic to avocado. My father and I said we'd eat anything, and I said I have a very high tolerance for spice. What then followed (over the next 4+ hours) was extraordinary all the way around. I've read several negative reviews here and elsewhere and they all seem to be about the tasting menu. To the detractors I have this to say: the tasting menu prices are clearly marked--so you shouldn't get all huffy or surprised when you see the bill. This is not a Chinese restaurant in the typical sense. This is Chinese/French Fusion food, and boy does it work. This is not the place to go if you have a show to catch or an urgent appointment afterwards. Eating here is an experience. This *is* your destination and only item on your to-do list for the night when you show up. If you want to do the tasting menu, go on a slower night like we did and call ahead of time to see if Mr. Kang will be cooking. Around hour 2 of our night, Mr. Kang came out and asked how everything was going and if we needed to change the pace. We asked if he could slow it down a bit. He did. Seriously, those four hours flew by. By the time we were having the Fromage course, he sat down and shared drinks with us. We got the opportunity to chat him up about the food and his restaurant, and he had great stories to tell for sure! How anyone could come here and have a bad experience boggles my mind. I was watching the other tables while we ate. Every time a server came up to ask people what they thought of their meal, every single one of them gave the same expression--"wonderful!" Everyone there was very friendly--from the busboys to Mr. Kang. We left stuffed and happy. The perfect meal.
Pros: Food, decor, experience
Cons: None

I discovered Mosun after overhearing some guys at the beach say they were getting all-you-can-eat sushi for $20. My boyfriend and I have been regulars ever since. The sushi is fresh and of good quality but you can't beat the price. There are different sushi specials almost every night of the week. A few nights a week there are also drink specials. We like to sit at the sushi bar and talk to the sushi chefs. We've gone so many times they even know us by name. I've gone to Club M a few times too but if I'm driving all the way to Laguna, I'm going for the sushi. Best bets - Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday nights. No matter what night you go - ask for a Hurricane Roll.

When my mom and I moved to Orange County several years ago, we looked up and down the orange county coast for an amazing sushi restaurant, and we found san shi go in laguna. I love the sushi chefs, the creative rolls, and the beach ambiance. They recently just updated the decor, which was a big improvement. Excellent sashimi...particularly the hamachi (yellow-tail). I reccommend the cajun salmon roll and the special cucumber roll...definitely our favorites. Enjoy!
Be aware though, if you go after 7:00pm, the service at the tables will get a little slow...particularly if you sit outside.

I've eaten here a number of times and have been satisfied every time. While I prefer certain bars in LA, when in Laguna this is where I go for my sushi fix. The staff is friendly and some of their rolls are inventive if not entirely Japanese in origin. Their prices are reasonable and the fish is fresh. It's not very large so I suggest calling ahead and checking to see if you need a reservation or not.

So my best friend and I went here after one place didn't work out so well because we really wanted sushi and it was a very nice experience. The sushi was tasty and they presented it very nicely. Even though they were close to closing when we sat down they didn't rush us and overall it was just very good.

If you're looking for a place to chill with your friends, eat good food, have good drinks, this is the place. This is not for first dates or romantics dates. The restaurant can get loud, but it's PERFECT for small birthday parties. I wouldn't recommend parties of 15 of more. The restaurant itself is not that huge. All their food is wonderful, I recommend the Miso soup it's so great if you love mushrooms!
After dinner you can make your way up to the club, dancing or sitting on the couchs, it's an awesome place to a fun night out with the girls or your SO :)
Pros: Great food, Good Service, Good Drinks
Cons: Restaurant is small

This place gets very busy so I tried it out on a Monday night. I am not big on eating raw so there were not many options for me. I tried the LA roll and crunchy roll. Both were very good! Just a heads up, they do not have straws.
Pros: fresh ingredients, female chef, unique menu
Cons: gets very busy, long waits, very small
