I read about Hush in a magazine at my hotel, and took a chance as I do not know Orange County well. Located along a cute shopping stretch, Hush was upscale and stylish but welcoming, not snobby as one might expect in the area. We snuggled into a booth to enjoy an awesome Oregon Pinot, delicious salads, savory fish entrees and finally, a rich dessert. What a great date-night!
Pros: Romantic, awesome food, great location

On our most recent visit to this restaurant on July 8th, 2008, we arrived early enough to order from the early bird Sunset Dinner menu. The prices for the items on this menu are approximately half of their counterparts on the regular menu --- I definitely recommend giving the selections on this menu a try as all represented very good values for the high quality preparation that this restaurant offers. Our four selections this evening from this menu were the Sand Dabs, Lobster Tail, Fillet Mignon, and Chicken Marsala --- all were fresh, hot and flavorful.
We sat on the far corner of the outermost desk, just above the beach & surf only 15 feet below -- the view was excellent, although some of us had to wear visors because there is no shelter from the sun in this section of the restaurant.
We particularly enjoyed the service that was provided. All of the restaurant employees that we encountered, from the hostess to the waitress were very friendly. Our waitress was named Mary and we think that her bubbly personality made the dinner even more enjoyable that evening. She happily went that extra mile to assist us with some special needs related to the elderly members of our party. She was also very helpful in explaining menu items and making sure that they were prepared just the way we asked for them to be prepared. She helped us save a few dollars by recommending the ordering of a 'split' bottle of Spanish sparkling wine for only $7 instead of ordering two glasses of white wine for much more.
In sum, we will return to this restaurant the next time we visit Laguna Beach for the value, food quality, the noteworthy view and the exemplary service. I'm rating it as 'highly recommended' for folks visiting Laguna Beach.
Pros: The view, friendly service, great outdoor dining place during summer.
Cons: Outer deck has no awning or shelter, so dress appropriately.

Its one of the oldest restaurants in Laguna Beach and the atmosphere is amazing. It is a small place but they have the best meals in town if you ask me. I would recommend it for any occassions.

I love Zinc, especially for breakfast and coffee! They have amazing oatmeal, quiches, specialty coffee, fresh fruit and scones. Try a Sunrise, a great juice drink made fresh. Enjoy a patio garden for seating and chat with the locals. Stop next door to the market and grab some lunch to go. Zinc is a must for breakfast, or anytime. They are a little pricey, but you'll be happy you visited.

I have lived behind this restaurant with my Finace for ten years. We say it is our 2nd home. The Cottage is an experience as it is a historic landmark and a Laguna Beach/Southern California Tradition. It is a California bungalow (originally a private residence) that was built in the early 1900's. It offers great architecture, ambiance/home like surroundings, friendly/experienced servers (most have worked for the restaurant longer than I have lived in Laguna!) and home style cooking including good size portions. The Cottage is known for it's breakfasts and people from all over come to enjoy it all week long, however to we locals, it is also a great take out restaurant for lunch and dinner as well. In fact I just happened upon your site while searching for their menu to order dinner! The owner, Jennifer (former/current caterer) really takes care to serve good food and keep long term employees, customers happy. You can find her there most days with her sleaves rolled up. Anyway, if you are coming to visit Laguna you must expericence The Cottage to truly experience ...well, Laguna!
PROS: architecture, history, ambiance, great servers, good home cooking/portions

Next time you're out at Laguna Beach and you don't want to take out a second mortgage on your house in order for some fine dining, take a tip from the Queen and eat at the old White Man's KFC. Here's the inside scoop for you adventuresome types that can walk good on rocks. Park on a meter if you must and walk to the KFC - order a value meal (the kind that comes in those neat plastic trays) and then take the short hike down to the sea shore.... pull up a beach bolder and sit yourself down and enjoy some of the most spectacular views of the beach ever!
From your humble vantage point, you will dine in a spot more heavenly than Los Brisas, Hotel Laguna and the Beach House combined!!!!
Look at the beach house rentals next to you and think of this fact; the people renting those homes have to shell out thousands of dollars per week to have the same view you are having, only you are way smarter and are enjoying this stupdendously gorgeous breathtaking view - - - FOR FREE!!!!
Just because you read this review...you are going to knock the socks off your date, or your kids or whomever else you wish to impress --- Champagne tastes on a root beer budget, aren't the best things in life FREE?
Pros: HIKE TO THE BEACH, less than a block away!
Cons: You may not be able to brag about where you ate.
