Last year we began the process for building a home and went shopping for the best rates and lowest fees. Wells Fargo offered both.
Their mortgage specialist was a complete dream. She handled everything and kept me informed. If she needed something she'd call well in advance to inform me what was needed. If nothing was needed, she'd still call me every once in a while to let me know that all was going well.
I loved being kept informed and as she put it, Let me do all the work. You just concentrate on your house.
She worked with our builder throughout the process and would speak to him directly so I was not caught in the middle. It eliminated any miscommunication or misunderstandings. We were all on the same page with no surprises.
Closing went smoothly and on time. I was impressed that everything had been taken care of so well. I had my own little list of things to check to make sure some fees had been reduced or items credited---little things we had negotiated. She did not miss a thing and the figures matched up to mine perfectly.

Vizhunz offers a variety of services such as waxing, facials, hair, and massage. I use their massage service. Ron, the massage therapist, is awesome. Great deep tissue. Great products such as Aveda. Sometimes it gets a little loud outside of the massage room, but that is easily taken care of by turning up the music. Parking is difficult as times. Definitely a four star.

This store rocks! They offer high quality Mexican Imports and the owners are great to visit with! Awesome customer service!! Their glassware is stunning. There is so much color and life in this store. The prices are extremely reasonable and I always leave with a smile.
PROS: I can always find a great gift - unique and high quality!

This is a great place to preorder books, get gifts, and drink coffee all in the same place. They have a lady there that makes her own jewelery and it is so beautiful! They have a wide selection of popular books and alot of good gift ideas. We were always pleased with the service there and got to know the people there very well. Everyone was so nice and the prices were great on coffee and other items. They have great coffee and hot chocolate! They are easy to find and are located in a small shopping area.

Total Interiors carries a variety of furniture, rugs, flooring, and decorative accents for your home.
The quality ranges from fair to excellent.
One thing they offer is unfinished pine and oak furniture that you can stain yourself. It's fairly inexpensive and you can assemble it yourself or pay a little extra and buy preassembled. It is all solid wood--no particle board or anything like that.
I especially like that kind of furniture for the kid's playroom because I can paint or stain it myself, and it is inexpensive enough that I don't worry about it getting damaged.
They have many catalogs if you don't find exactly what you are looking for in the store---just ask!
They recently expanded their hours so it is easier to shop evenings and weekends.

Sutliffs True Value Hardware is located on the main road in Kodiak, and is very easy to find. The are the best place to find all your do-it-yourself supplies in the area. The offer everything from appliances to tools, to building supplies. There prices are slightly high due to the high overhead of shipping wood to the island, but overall they are affordable. They have a wonderful staff that are very knowledgeable when it comes to home maintenance and repairs.
