The Sunspot has to be one of my all time favorite places to eat. It was a great lunch hangout while in college and now a great date night place with my husband. He's a carnivore, I'm a veggie. This is one of the few places we can go together and both be happy. The food has a very distinct taste and flavor and it always fresh. The hummus is amazing and a must have for every table. A few years ago they expanded and made the bar area larger to add additional seating. A plus in my book because the wait can sometimes be a bit long on the weekends.

As for the food, if you like an eclectic mix of Mediterranean, Jamaican, and Tex-Mex, you'll love it. There are plenty of vegetarian and carnivorous options on the menu that is flavorful and unique. Enjoy!

Great place - lots of character and unique food for Knoxville - find it rght on the strip. A supporter of non-smoking atmosphere as well as a strong selection of vegetarian and vegan foods. A hard to come by cuisine in Eastern TN.
Good for groups of up to 6 at a table but plan ahead for UT games since the strip gets packed and parking is a premium.

Sunspot is located on Cumberland Ave within walking distance to the University of Tennessee. Restaurants have come and gone here, but the Sunspot has endured. It is difficult to explain the menu - I think it is a bit eclectic. The specials are always flavorful and creative. I have had an occasional meal here that was over-spiced, but I like the culinary risk taking.
I believe they still have a full bar.
Good vegetarian selections, friendly atmosphere. I'm glad they are still around.

Sunspot is a favorite of mine. I regularly take vegetarian friends who are visiting from out-of-town, as it's a rare locally-owned restaurant that offers great quality, atmosphere, and value. The menu has tremendous range, including great salads, tofu sandwiches, vegetable pastas, seafood, a great burger, chicken sandwich, blackened crab quesadilla, and on and on. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is very unique, and It's also just a short walk from the UT campus.
