My big complaint with the Knoxville Zoos.....please update your reptile section !! We were recently told by somebody that works there that they had the money set aside to do that, then they used that money for the new children's amusement . Well teenagers need amusement too , and my children want to see the reptile area updated. Also, they offer homeschooling classes, and my kids took them, but once again, geared more towards younger kids. My older teens would like to volunteer there also, but I didn't find any helpful information on that. Oh they are working on alot of things there, but I think it's the wrong things.

The Knoxville Zoo is a wonderful place to visit any time of year. I find you see more animals out and about if you visit when the weather is cooler. The new Kid's Cove is amazing. I think my child would be happy to go and spend the day just there and ignore the rest of the zoo. I love that they have outdoor sinks in the kids area. How smart! The play area is a blast, but not totally parent friendly. It was a bit hard for us to follow our small child around as we did not fit in all those tiny spaces!

The Knoxville Zoo is a great place to spend the day. They have great animals and exhibits to see. They recently opened a new area for kids to play and learn more about animals and their habitats. In the gift shop you purchase tons of great animal items, including paintings done by various zoo animals including the elephants. I would definitely recommend taking your family here. Also, be on the look out for free days that are offered throughout the year.

The Knoxville Zoo has recently undergone a major makeover. It has lots more exhibits, tons more animals, and it's just generally a good place to visit. The animals always look healthy and happy and don't look like they are about to die. They have camel rides which I love. The walkways are large which is a plus if you have children in strollers.

In recent years the Knoxville Zoo has undergone many changes. Upgrades to the facility and new animal additions to the zoo have vastly upgrades our and the animals experience in the zoo. We have one of the best zoo's in the region and that is undeniable. Our patronage helps keep the zoo the best. Our children and ourselves are very lucky to have such a high quality zoological garden. Remember, theres always something new at the Knoxville Zoo! ;-)

I have found myself visiting the Knoxville Zoo at least twice a week lately. After letting my gym membership lapse a few months ago, I decided I needed to get out and walk more. I quickly bored of my neighborhood and so I took my child to the zoo. I was happy to see the anticipated Kid's Cove area has been completed and opened for the 2004 season. When you enter the zoo be sure and stop and try to find the almost always invisible Black Bears! They easily get lost in the cave display and are usually sleeping. On the rare occaisions you do see them - they are really amazing and seem content.
Head up the first slope (here comes the exercise part!) and turn left towards Kid's Cove. Be sure to stop by the River Otters and say hello. They are super cute and almost always put on a little swimming show for you. On to Kid's Cove down the big hill. A nice carousel, large sandbox and play/discovery areas for the little ones. A good day adventure area!
If you'll visit more than once per year - buy a yearly pass. It's about $50 per family.
