I have shopped at Markman's for years and have never been disappointed. The quality of their jewelry is unmatched. The service is great. I am far from rich and my purchases are probably small when compared to many of their customers but that doesn't seem to matter. I am greeted by name when I arrive and have the complete attention of the person waiting on me throughout my visit. No complaints from me!
Pros: Service & Quality
Cons: None

We were in this week and the sales staff was great we had worked with an older man (I think ray was his name not sure) that was cutting up with us and sharing about the diamons and the Markman name. The store started to close and we said well we should leave and he said he told us not to worry that they wanted us to be happy & not rushed. Then this older man that I think is some kind of a manager started putting everything up that was infront of us. He was very rude!! You could tell he just wanted us out of the store! We may be back but won't deal with the older rude man!!
Pros: They had great diamonds ans sales staff!
Cons: Pushing us to leave!!

I was in Markmans looking for a ring I was being shown Diamonds by this big guy, I don't recall his name. He was showing me Diamonds and asking me about the ring when he called his wife over. He acted like I was not there after that. His focus was all on her! There was a lot of flurting going on. I am surprised they let couples work together. The lady was nice and seemed like she wanted to help. I didn't get either of there names. They were both talk she had brown hair. I had a lot of friends tell me to go to Markmans I guess you should just stay away from the big guy & his wife if you want to be focused on. I liked what I saw I guess from the rings it is just. I will always rember the couple that wait on each other instead of me!
Pros: They had a lot.
Cons: I was very distracted by lack of focus on me.

I am so frustrated! I came in to upgrade my diamond at first the staff was very helpful. They showed me everything I wanted to see and move. I was very excited to look at upgrading my ring. While I felt very comfrotable with my sales lady, it seemed that after a time half the staff was involed with thesearch for the right diamond. We finally went back to the 1st diamond I pointed out. Mr Markman came over at this time and told me I should keep my diamond and not upgrade. AAAAAAAAAAA! It seems that he does not trust his staff! He said the oppsite of what the sales lady had told me. All I wanted to do is upgrade!, not be talk into something else. When you come in the staff comes across very helpful and seems to know what they are doing. Why is it that mr Markman doesn't listen to them or to me. I was ready to spend money in his store. I want to be helped not told what to do.Now I don't know where I will go for my next diamond!
Pros: Staff & quality are great!
Cons: MR Markman not listining & being told what to do instead of helped!

My husband wears a diamond Kentucky cluster ring we purchased at Markman's over 25 years ago. He noticed that one of the diamonds was missing and we took it into the East Town store for repair. A couple of weeks later when we hadn't heard from them, they admitted that somehow the ring had been misplaced on the transfer from the East-West store. Even though it had been more than 25 years sine we purchased the ring and it was showing serious signs of wear, Markman's still had the original order and made him a bran-new identical ring - at no charge to us. I thought that was incredible service!!!! We also purchased our wedding rings there 35 years ago -- and our son-in-law went to Markman's when it was time to surprise out daughter with her engagement ring, so you can say we're a Markman's kind of family - and proud of it!!!

We purchased out wedding set from Markman?s 14 years ago. They totally sell you on their Quality and Service. Well one of the prongs on my wrap broke, and the diamond lost. I took my piece to the shop in Knoxville. They still had my purchase on record (good record keeping). I asked them to resize the set (14years+3 kids=not the same size) and fix the wrap?s prong and reset a new and similar diamond, and I would pay the cost. NOTE: I am not asking them to do Anything for free or call upon some sort of warranty. It is one of their own rings, so that shouldn?t be a problem as far as ?workmanship?. It took them a month to look at it. They took an additional diamond out, to account for weight, shape and size they would need to look for the replacement. When I returned, they said they couldn?t do it, it just wouldn?t work. They handed me my set like it was some trinket from Chuck E. Cheese and the staff continued their conversation with one another as if I wasn?t there. They still have the same wrap for sale, but why dish out $1500 for another wrap that they wouldn?t be able to fix if it broke. Then I looked at my ?trinket? package?and realized they had forgotten to return the diamond that they had popped out. It took them a bit, and acted as if I were being completely unreasonable to want my diamond from my 14 year old trinket of a wedding set. But they finally found it. I took it to Zales in the mall, they gave me a professional jewelers? name and so it got fixed by a real professional. I have been on the lookout for others with wraps similar to mine, they too have had theirs break and be fixed?not by Markman?s though. Be forewarned, Markman?s has great commercials, but the idea of service they sell to account for the price, is non-existent (unless your buying!).
Pros: Nice building, location. Attractive upscale displays
Cons: Sales persons/customer service HORRID

My fiance and I went to Markman's to shop for my engagement ring. I'm not sure if it was an off day or if we simply didn't look customer service-worthy, but our salesman answered all of our questions with one or two words, barely made eye contact (he looked over our heads when speaking to us), and generally seemed put out that we were there. We felt a bit like uninvited guests. I don't know...we went to Kimball's and Jared's and were greeted immediately and were offered coffee. Doesn't seem like too much to ask...needless to say we made the purchase elsewhere...
Cons: expensive, poor service

I don't know who wrote that, but I'd love to hear the explaination of why they think Markman's has poor products. As a former employee, I'll be the first to say I don't agree with some of the business aspects of the company, but as for their products and quality I would defend entirely.
The diamonds sold there are hand picked from the Markman's, Steve flys to Belguim yearly and inspects them. And the workmanship? The custom pieces that the jewlers work on are spectacular, and they have decades of experience in that field.
Perhaps the prior comment was written by someone with some jewlery that wasn't up to par, and the jewlers didn't want to work on it. The thing about the Markman's jewlers is that they won't try to fix something if there is a possiblity of imperfection in the piece. It's like art.
And why, may I ask, does this person keep returning to Markmans if they don't like it? That's the big question....
