We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the hotel is gorgeous. We found the service to be average. We feel that for a restuarant of this caliber the service should have been more attentive. We had to wait for our order to be taken, dirty dishes to be removed, etc. The waiters seemed to be spread thin this evening. We both had the filets, which we found were too salty to our taste (I'm assuming from the special dry rub that they use), so it was hard to enjoy them due to the extreme salty flavor. The appetizers (we tried the cheese tray selections and did enjoy them), the side dishes and the dessert were very good. We have dined at quite of few upscale restaurants, but I guess we have been spoiled - we may try this restaurant again and hope that we just went on an "off" evening.
Pros: atmosphere, good variety of food, generous portions
Cons: average service, too salty steaks

exceptional, phenomal and deviant!
The Gay Lord Palms offer a court with many different themes including Key West, Everglades, St. Augustine and etc. From alligators to castles all in one court you may feel as though the atmosphere can't get any better, but ah, there's more, Old Hickory. I couldn't shut up to my girlfriend about how my mouth melted with every bite of my Filet and the cheese that was complimented with it. Also the lamp chops were very tender. The server was most articulate in his knowledge to the restuarants food and winery. You can tell that they take pride in their restuarant and i do to! This is a place that you MUST go at least once to try their Filet! Pricey but hey be more concern of the quality, service and ambience that is attached with your tab!
Pros: Atmosphere, Filet, Service
Cons: Far walk to Court

I have dined at Old Hickory Steakhouse and cannot for the life of me understand why it is called a STEAK house ... it is an EVERYTHING house! The steaks are fantastic, and the seafood is divine! Try the Shrimp cocktail and you will gawk at the SIZE of these shrimp... they must go 6-8 to the pound. And if you happen to CATCH them on a night when the menu includes the CORVINA... try it! You'll never go back to snook .. or the old standby, grouper. And to cap it all off, the elegant and hearty side dishes are enough so that 2-3 can share and you still get a large portion. Last but not least, ask for Brian to be your Server (he is OUTSTANDING!) and say hi to the manager, Mammoud !! This restaurant rates a 9.9!!
And tell the The Colonel sent ya ...
Pros: good parking, outstanding waitstaff, Pricey but worth it!!

Of the finer steakhouses in greater Orlando, Old Hickory has, by far, the best atmosphere. The service is professional, attentive and extremely helpful in offering choices of wine. The menu is impressive-On my first visit, I enjoyed the Filet, a fine piece of steak offered with a choice of sauce. On my second visit, I opted for the Capon breast which was equally delectable. The salads, appetizers, sides and desserts are all well-presented and delicious. I highly recommend sampling the cheese course as well. Old Hickory is a definite must for dining out in Orlando!

My husband likes a steak, and it's hard to get him excited about anything. This man went crazy over his meal. He had the New York Strip, and he said it was the best he'd ever had. Maybe it was the environment. This place is a really cool location. My lobster tail was great as well. We tried their cheese course, which was interesting and a fun end to the meal. I'd recommend this to my friends for a nice meal... probably for an anniversary or a special occasion. I was very impressed with the service as well. They made us feel very special.
Pros: food, service, atmosphere

The Old Hickory serves food that would be decent at two-thirds the price, in a manner that would be acceptable at TGI Fridays.
We were seated, without menus, at 9:40pm. Once given our menus, we did not receive the wine list until we requested it. Shortly thereafter, our waiter stood over us, waiting for our order, as the kitchen would be closing in five minutes. This was more than ten minutes before closing.
Hurried, we ordered Artisanal cheese that, while acceptable, was not worth $16 for three cheese-slices and two dates. My wife ordered a Mixed Green Salad with Balsalmic-Vinaigrette that was inedibly bad.
I found the Rack of Lamb to be acceptable, but not at $28 with no sides. My wifes Filet Mignon was cooked appropriately. At $34, bare, much better can be had at many other places for much less.
A plus, the side of mushrooms was delicious.
Pros: bread, butter, water
Cons: cheese, wine, service
