The staff is prompt and friendly, the food unusual - you can find it with and without 'bite' - this is a great introduction for those afraid of Indian food and spices. And you'll keep coming back for more! We've gone back for 10 years, and the clients I take there for the lunch buffet have raved about the flavors.
Pros: flavors

we were seated promptly and service was excellent. tasted appetizers of chili shrimp and spicy eggplant. shrimp dish was unimpressive; it was identical to those i have had at chinese restaurants. spicy eggplant was original and delicious. tasted, saag paneer, lamb special and chicken kabuli for dinner. saag paneer was good except for over simmered spinach. chicken was unmemorable, but lamb was tender and well spiced. it completely pained me to pay for papadams and the chutney sampler, which are usually served complimentary in most indian restaurants. overall, there was quite the indian atmosphere, which attempted to overshadow average food with extraordinary prices.
Pros: atmosphere, service
Cons: none really, but i wouldn't make an effort to go back

The lunch buffet at Shamiana is excellent. From the multiple meat and veggie curry dishes to the pulao yellow rice, it is truly a taste treat. My personal favorite, head & shoulders above the rest, is their "Major Grey Curry" with is a sweet yellow curried chicken with carmelized onions in a cream sauce. To die for! Don't forget to get some Garlic Nan (enough for 2) with your lunch buffet.
Pros: Major Grey Curry, Saffon Rice, Friendly Staff
Cons: Medium Buffet Size

Appetizer:
vegetable cutlets (typical veg Samosa filings) wrapped in a wonton'ish skin and fried, pricey... not crispy as tastey as samosa's.
Entree:
A vegatarian dish called Sag Alu, The Sag tasted slightly soured and usually suports the potatoes which it couldn't.
Bread:
The Nan was tandoor style bread with a coating of butter and garlic brushed on top, I have had much better.
Chai Tea:
Was served/prepared seperate from milk, usually it is brewed in milk to help absorb the tea masala, when milk was added it was ok.
Rice:
Insult to injury they served american long grain rice with burnt onions on top, no Basmati with saffron!
I eat out with Indian co-workers often and I have had the best, this isn't it!
Might I suggest that their cook go to Kanishka's for comparison and try the shai paneer, it is just mouth watering!!!
Pros: atmosphere
Cons: food preperation, food taste

This is a great restaurant. The best way to go here is to get a couple curries to share between all at the table, pulao and naan. You will read on the fron of their menu that this restaurant DOES NOT claim to be authentically Indian, as many people have complained of in their review. This is a blend of Pakistani, Indian and fused with others. Their flavors are less harsh and more unique than at other Indian restaurants. Suggestions include: Major Grey Chicken, the grilled eggplant dish, Shamiana or Fire Prawns. I am a foodie and this is one of my favorite restaurants to frequent.
Pros: excellent food, easy parking

The food is decent but the atmospehere is nice. Plus its just a stones throw away from lake washington so you can go for a nice stroll after a heavy meal. ;)
