First of all, I need to state that I am sorry for those people who have had a bad experience at the Slip. Stay home and cook yourself so you have good experiences and we have less wait for a nice juicy hamburger.
I moved her 6 years ago and from the first time to the last time that I ate at the Slip, it has been excellent!!! :) Great service, friendly waiters/waitress, excellent beer and drinks and the most tasty burgers in the state of Washington. I have to say that I fell in love with this place from my first experience. The spinach dip as an appitzer is amazing! Then move on to one of their tasty burgers and enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Washington. Nothing beats the slip!! You never know tell you try it yourself!!! Life takes paitence and those who are will enjoy this place. Check it out for yourself!
Pros: Everything here is worth it!!

The two times I've eaten there my chicken sandwich was raw in the middle. Get me once, shame on you, get me twice, shame on me. I'll never eat there again.

So I read all the reviews from other folks, and felt compelled to counteract some of the negative posts. While the service isn't great, and if you're older than say 35 you might feel a little ancient (as I did), the food was frickin' awesome. I'd been told that the hamburgers were the best in Seattle and though I've only been here a year I'd say it's the best I've had. I had TheSpecial, which was darn tasty. I was diggin' the Hale's beer selection too; good IPA's and Pale Ales. The young thing managing the seating was very friendly to us, put us on the list for outdoor seating and called our cell phone when a table became available, no problem. I think if you come in with a bad attitude you're going to get it right back at you. I and my party of 2 others had a great experience, and I'll definitely be back.
Pros: Yummy burgers and beer.
Cons: Cheapo seating, only ok service.

It has to be one of the best places to eat in Kirkland for the money along with a gr8 outdoor deck! The prices for what you get are affordable along with a very nice staff and just purrs with awesome energy on a summer day or eve!
Yes, they can be a bit slow in service but just flag down one of the many servers to remedy that small problem!
It's always pretty packed for so many reasons so disregard those negative reviews and try it at least once for yourself and you will find a nice surprise nestled in downtown Kirkland with views of Lake Wa!
Pros: Food, Loacation, friendly staff
Cons: Service sometimes not alwayz a bit slow.

I heard about the Slip from Citysearch, and I thought enough of the reviews here to give it a try with some friends. It was so disappointing that I had to sign up for a Citysearch account just so I could write my two cents here. I don't want others to make the same mistake. None of my friends particularly enjoyed the food. My whole earth burger had no flavor, and my mixed drink was so awful that I didn't finish it. We had to wait over half an hour to be seated at a non-peak hour because the waitress mistook a group of 2 for our reservation for 5. I just moved to Kirkland and have been scoping out restaurants to bring visitors to. The Slip is off my list.
Pros: location
Cons: food, drinks, service

Having heard that even PNW guide books recommend the Slip, I tried it out with 4 friends. First, our waitress was nice, but unexperienced. She seemed to have no knowledge of the menu, had to be reminded to bring my drink after 20 minutes, and got one order wrong. My friends that ordered a Creamsicle and Strawberry Lemon Drop martinis found them terrible and undrinkable, and the waitress did nothing when politely told about this. The hamburgers were fair, but the salmon and shrimp burgers were rather unsatisfactory.
Pros: Moderate price, Good location
Cons: Terrible drinks, Mediocre service

The Slip is a tiny, almost hidden restaurant in a prime Kirkland location. Right across the street from the Kirkland waterfront, this place is always packed on sunny days. The staff is young and fun, and while the menu is small they have a several signature items that are quite worth it. As a desert they offer smores, complete with your own candle for grilling.

In a sea of expensive albeit very fine restaurants in the downtown near waterfront area of Kirkland, The Slip is in a class by itself. Good food, great service, friendly people, incredibly reasonably prices, and location, locatation, location, what more can you ask for? After a summer afternoon of boating, waterskiing or just exploring downtown Kirkland's shops and fine art galleries, The Slip is a rare find indeed. Considering its space limitations you feel among a lucky few to enjoy a casual lunch or dinner at The Slip. There is a full bar along with several very acceptable wines, even available by the glass if you wish. CHEERS!
Pros: service, food, price
Cons: limted space

I can't tell you about the food here because TWICE I have entered this restaurant to be ignored. I sat at the bar the first time watching the little 21-year old waitresses (who wear as little as possible) prance around and not even look at me before I left. The next time we seated ourselves the snot in charge told me they had a "list" and promptly kicked us out. I had looked right at her as we came in and she gave us a dirty look to begin with. I get the feeling that we were not young enough or dressed provactively enough to warrant service here. I guess if you're 21 years old and don't care about service this might be the place for you.
Cons: service, crowded, service

I've eaten at the Slip many times, and each time has been great. The only drawback is... if you don't have time on your hands, go some place else. During the busy Summer season, things can get a little SLOW there. But, if you do have an afternoon to spare and you're in the area, I definitely recommend it for a leisurely lunch. The Moss Bay Broiler Burger is my favorite, along with the Black Bean Dip appetizer. I Look forward to next Summer so I can return for a nice lunch!
Pros: Patio Seating, Burgers, Full Bar
Cons: Small kitchen,, slow service
