I LOVE sushi!! With that being said I would have recommended this restaurant to anyone looking for good sushi on the Eastside...... until last night. Rikki Rikki has been a fairly regular haunt of mine for the past 3-4 years. Their rolls and sashimi are better than most sushi restaurants and I enjoyed the $4.95 happy hour rolls several times a week at my peak. This all came crashing down after going toe to toe in a battle for my ginger with a c0ckroach. There are a lot of things I can deal with. I've picked hair (head hair, not short and curlys) out of my food, actually had a fly in my soup but a C0KROACH on my sushi!? Come on Rikki Rikki! The General Manager was full of excuses and very smug as well. "All I can do is apologize!" Wrong answer Keigo Sorajo.... wrong answer. Think twice before going there! P.S. Citysearch needs to take C0CKROACH off the inappropriate list so we don't have to sub a zero for an O. Pros: Mac and Jacks is good. Cons: C0COKROACHES are bad!

Ok, I have been going here for over four years and I must say, it is the best in Kirkland. Of course there are better sushi places, like Nijo in downtown Seattle but for Kirkland, this is it. I've read other reviews and was surprised as I have never had a bad experience here. I have had slow service when busy but never bad food or rude staff. The only thing that is annoying to me about the place is that they run out of things. Toro is a good example. As far as the bar, it is a SUSHI place. It isn't a club so whoever posted about the "biker" bartender...Who cares. There are other places in Kirkland but all of them have sucked. I recommend Rikki Rikki unless you are one of those cheap sushi people who will settle for conveyor belt places such as AA Sushi or Blue C. GROSS. Pros: Food Cons: Slow service when busy

I went here for the second time with a friend the other night. The spicy crunch roll (the one that is deep fried) was good - perfectly spicy. Also got the scallop and crab roll and it was deliciously sweet and perfect. The eel roll was less so, disappointing when compared to the other two. The Agedashi Tofu was perfect! Absolutely delicious. Our watiress was very nice, refilled my tea quickly and was joking around with us about the drunk guy yelling at people in the bar. Not the best sushi restaurant, but good for its location. Pros: Good rolls, convenient location Cons: prices are a little high for the casual atmosphere

Just a question. I have frequented Rikki Rikki for years because it is close to the theatre and a convenient meeting location. The happy hour is pretty good too, sometimes the food is better than others, and there is no question that the portion sizes and the rolls have diminished recently and the prices have risen. Such are the times we are in. But, there is a new bartender there, be forewarned. Even if you just pumped iron around the corner at the gym or built your stamina up beyond Hercules? level at hot yoga next door I?m pretty sure she can kick your butt. I asked how the house Chardonnay was and she very tersely said ?I don?t know! I don?t drink!!? Newly in recovery or just a tough chick? It?s a different vibe now, not sure if it is good or bad, just not as service oriented or relaxed as it used to be. Pros: Close to theatre and downtown Kirkland, parking is pretty good. Cons: Food and service are inconsistent.

I've lived in Kirkland for many years have been going to Rikki Rikki as my primary sushi spot on the east side. However, lately I've been very disappointed in the quality of the food that they have been serving. It's come to the point where it doesn't matter how sweetly the servers treat me (because I am a regular) or how many coupons and discounts are offered. The quality has definitly gone down. I ordered a crunchy roll (which used to be my favorite) but it was cold and the "crunchy" part was actually chewy. And I agree with the other guy who said that the place is "sticky". I sat in the booth section of the restaurant and I had to ask the server if she could wipe my table down. Even with that, it was still sticky afterwards. I've politley complained a few times about the quality of the food and then I get offered a comp or a discount. I guess that would be good for someone who's frugal or doesn't care about the quality as long as it's cheap. But I do and the quality just does't seem to be getting better. While all else failed, the service was great. Pros: Friendly Staff Cons: Food Quality, Cleanliness, Manager Response to Complaints

okay, this place keeps me coming back. they have an excellent selection, a fast, and friendly staff, and the sushi chefs are always helpful when i have questions (sitting at the sushi bar). they also have a bar! full bar, with an awesome, groovy bartender. if you haven't had good sake, so see this lady. avoid that warm cr@p and go for a glass of the chilled stuff. they have about a million to choose from. I am new to the Kirkland area and have been looking for decent Japanese restaurant. Sushiya seemed to be well reviewed, but is closed (for good?). Rikki Rikki was nearby and seemed to be decently reviewed, so I decided to give it a try. First, the Citysearch map was wrong, and I spent an hour looking for the place. Once found, I should have let the smell of old fryer oil that prevailed outside the restaurant serve as a red flag. I entered and was seated in a largely empty establishment (another warning flag, when so many of the other restaurants I'd seen that night were fairly crowded). And evertying was sticky (a third red flag). I should have made a break for it at that point. To the point: The panko oysters were heavily breaded with flour and egg wash before dredged in panko and deep fried to the very greasy edge of being burned. The sushi rice on the nigiri and in the roll was mush. I mean pasty mush. The spider roll was so poorly rolled that it fell apart when I tried to pick it up. I've had many spider rolls in many restaurants, but I've never seen anything like what was passed as a soft shell crab in the middle of the spider roll. It looked and tasted like a heavily breaded (see the oysters above) deep fried Gorton's frozen shrimp. When the waitress asked me how everything was, she turned surly when I very politely and matter of factly gave her the truth (after I asked her if she Really wanted to know). She ended up sending over the manager, who grilled me relentlessly regarding my comments, and finally offered to comp the spider roll. At that point I just wanted to leave, so I didn't bring up the oysters. I must say though, that they had a very tasty special: Alaska Sockeye nigiri, which I enjoyed once I got rid of the rice is was laying on. This place was a big mistake. I'll never go back, or suggest the palce to anyone. The more I thought about the meal on the way home, the sicker I felt. Yuck! Pros: Wild Alaska Sockeye Nigiri Cons: Everything else

I have frequented this sushi restaurant since the mid 1996. I really enjoy the atmosphere. The food is consistently fresh and very nicely done. It is not what i call an authentic sushi house, but it suits me fine. I love the the Spider Rolls and the spicy tuna roll Mmmmm. the beer is nice and chilled and can ask for a frosty glass even if you are a regular;op!! i think it's worth talking about! from me to you Enjoy! Pros: easy parking,reliable service and consistent food Cons: long waits for friday and saturdays sometimes!!!

I recently tried Rikki Rikki on a radio promo gift cerficate.. and had heard good reviews. The restaurant was very busy, management seems very attentive and friendly. It was a weekday so we were seated quickly. I must say the Devil Roll is amazing as well as their tempura. It was the best tempura ive had in a long time, not greasy, very tender and piping hot! But other than that, every thing else we had was below average. The chicken teriyaki was bland, california and smoked salmon rolls were dry and not that fresh. Our waitress did not check on us at all until she gave us our bill. Didnt ask if we wanted dessert either. Another waitress finally filled our waters. Overall, i probably wont go back but if you do go, definitely try the devil roll. Pros: Devil roll and Tempura, friendly management, location Cons: Service, dry sushi
