Great Figure Skating Classes 3/18/2006

Definitely more of a hockey rink and not set up for spectators, etc, but they offer figure skating time in form of private or group lessons. Lessons are generally quite good, with knowledgeable and likeable instructors, but the problem is that there are way too many students in the classes. This is a problem because the students don't get enough personal attention and with all the classes going at once, there is simply not enough ice space for the students to practically skate on. Like the program, but would love for them to reduce the number of people on the ice during the classes. more

Good kirkland rink 11/4/2005

Kingsgate is a decent rink for some hockey. The TechRec hockey league plays here and the Seattle Thunderbirds occasionally use it for practice. The rink is in fairly good shape. In the past the facility has had some trouble maintaining the ice. Soft ice and puddles were usually present in the spring and summer. Plus, the yearly maintenance of the compressors always seemed to run over. The maintenance and ice conditions in general have improved over the last year though. Overall it's a good rink to get together for some hockey or skating. There are a few open skate and figure skating time slots at the rink. For the most part though ice time is reserved for hockey. Can't really complain about this. Kingsgate also has a small pro shop for your basic hockey and skating needs. more

Ice skating Lessons-Hockey and Public Skate 8/21/2005

Located in the Kingsgate community of Kirkland, Kingsgate Ice Arena offers a variety of on ice activities such as ice hockey, learn to skate programs and public skating sessions. You can access their learn to skate programs directly or through the Kirkland Parks and Recreation department. The arena is older and definitely not a beauty to look at, but the ice is good and the instructors are easy going and helpful. The rental ice skates could all use new shoe laces-but what can you expect for rental skates. It’s reasonable to do for the family without breaking the bank and good exercise to boot! more

A nice little arena recently opened to the public! 8/12/2005

I used to live right behind this rink, and it used to be for private school teams only... Recently its opened up to the public, as I'm more of a roller skater, i may not judge it too fairly, but i must say, they re glaze the ice very regularly and its a pretty nicely sized rink. The blades they had for rent were nice and shinny, and the boots seemed to be pretty good quality. I don't know how to rate the skates much beyond that. The price was fair, tho its cold when your skating so bring a sweater or coat! There is a place where visitors who don't want to skate can watch you, but its better to bring a date here and ice skate! The staff was pretty friendly tho didn't seemed to interested in much. And i don't think they play music like they do in a roller skating rink.. AS this is a practice rink for hockey teams i think its a full sized ice rink. Have a good time! I rate it as good! more
