I've never been so offended by a physician. His questioning was like a cross examination asking me personal questions with out any intention of helping me.
I waited for a month for this visit and have severe scoliosis and arthritis.
He told me to go back to my "gatekeeper" with this type of "insurance" which is Medicare.
I have a primary care physician who sent me to him!
He also told me that a patient told him today that he is an "easy doc to get narcotics from" and was paranoid that it got out on the "internet".
Insurance discrimination and totally Paranoid!!
Weird . . .

Things like waiting to get in to see the doctor (what doctor doesn't have this?) or dealing with often moody office staff/assistants (they can be very up and down here) don't make or break a doctor for me.
I've spent 18 years going back and forth between specialists, even with a diagnosis there are often times symptoms that don't fit in with the dx.
Dr. Neiman is one of the few that "gets it", especially regarding pain, whether it be Fibro or RA or nerve pain.
If you need something, and you're willing to be patient and firm about getting the help, Dr. Neiman will be there.
He can come across as extremely ... scattered, but after 6 years of going to see Dr. Neiman it's more than obvious it has more to do with how much he has on his plate and the intelligence that so many doctors subvert.
Dr. Neiman will help you find whatever support you need, whatever doctors or tests you could possibly want/need, you just have to be patient during your visits.
Be ready to sit and wait, in the waiting area or in the room. If it's painful to do that, speak up.
Intelligent & Intellectual doesn't = cold or uncaring.
Impatient or Rushed doesn't = incompetent.
As with any doctor, be prepared to be your own best advocate.

I went to Dr. Neiman on the recommendation of my primary care doc. Dr. Neiman was okay, but he did seem distracted (even leaving the room in the middle of our conversation to take a call without explanation or apology)and he didn't bother to connect with me. He seemed very knowledgeable but failed to explain to me what he was going to test for and what his theory or conclusions were. I had to ask and guess a lot. His staff is brusque to the point of almost being rude - not friendly or even courteous. I will have them send my charts back to my primary care doc, and if I need a rheumotologist, I will consult a different one.

I will preface this by saying that I only saw Dr. Neiman a few times. But that is mainly because I was really offended by him. The first time we met he asked me my religion! He told me his as well. I would have been fine with that but he proceeded to degrade me and make fun of me for my beliefs. He pretty much told me at our first meeting that he didn't think there was a thing wrong with me. After blood results came back he had to eat his words. I was impressed he was willing to do that but I was offended enough by our first meeting that I never saw him again.

I waited for nearly 45 minutes before I could meet with Dr. Neiman. Although it didn't matter - once I did meet with him he wasn't really there. My needs were not addressed. I waited nearly two weeks for blood test results. Once I received the results I learn I was tested for something completely unrelated to anything pertaining to my health issues. What a waste of time and money.

Dr. Neiman is a doctor I would definitely recommend - I found him to be a sincere listener (rare these days); open to use of complementary/alternative medicine; plus he told me about some possible side effects of a medication I'd been prescribed by two other previous doctors, which side effects those doctors had never bothered to mention to me. He has also taken the time to personally call me back on a couple occasions over the past few years when I've had acute/unusual symptoms.
The drawback, unfortunately, is his staff, who have ranged from cold to downright unkind - I've never been treated this way at any other doctor's office before. Don't count on getting a call back, even if they say they will, and also, be cautious about having the staff draw your blood - I've walked away with signifcant bruising. After 20+ years of having blood drawn, I'm well aware that it isn't necessary to walk away with bruises like that. I've gone to local blood draw labs, many, many times, and not once have I walked away bruised.

I have been to see Dr. Neiman 4 times. Every single time I have had to wait a minimum of 20 minutes and one time I waited 40 minutes before I saw him. Maybe he is too good a listener and not so respectful of patient's time.
I got immediate help with a drug he prescribed, but he didn't listen when I asked for a specific lab test and instead saddled me with a large lab bill of unnecessary tests that had just been performed 4 months ago.
Overall, I must say that the service I received was mediocre at best.

When I first moved to Bellevue, WA I saw a couple of the experts who did little more than prescribe medicine for my troubles. I found Dr. Neiman on a Fibromyalgia support website where he had the highest rating of MDs listed in Seattle and the Eastside. I've seen Dr. Neiman many times over many years for muscle and soft tissue injuries. He's a great listener, he's thorough, and his recommendations have always been effective for me. He is open to alternative forms of therapy like acupuncture, herbal preparations and support groups. I have recommended him to friends and neighbors who had joint and soft tissue injuries and they have been pleased with the results from working with him.

I first went to see Dr. Neiman AFTER having gotten knee surgery that ended up being not all together necessary. Had an earlier rheumatologist actually diagnosed me properly, that might not have happened. However, Dr. Neiman, after getting the results of my first blood test, correctly identified what was causing all my joint problems, started a treatment regimen within a few weeks, and now, two years later, I have pretty much full mobility, and only rare occasional twinges from my joint problems. FAR better than I ever expected to feel again. I'd recommend him highly to anyone in seriously need of help with joint or muscular pain.
