I opted for Clear Internet Service and Clear Voice for our home. The combo price, even after the special rate expires will save us $20/month. I replaced Earthlink and the most basic AT&T land line service. We get 3 or 4 bars of Clear signal consistently in our East Point neighborhood.

On xbox live alone it?s like operating on a 56k modem. Simply amazing, can?t even stream properly on youtube. I?m very fluent in computer hardware/networking, and this is by far the most horrible ISP on earth. The only good thing is their VOIP service, which isn?t all that bad?unlimited local and long distance can?t get any better, and that?s hard to find. but even then that goes out from time to time.

I got Clear a couple of weeks ago and have been happy with it so far. The fine print that is not on the brochure is that there is a 2 year contract in order to get the prices listed on their brochure. You can do month to month for more money if you buy the modem up front for like $170 or something. I wasn't too stoked about that so I went with the 2 year contract and am hoping for the best. I have had comcast in the past and was really unhappy both times I had an account with them. So far so good on the Clear front. When I went in to get set up at Grate Computers in St. Johns, the sales guy was able to look at my address on this zoom-in map that showed where all the towers in my neighborhood are located. Then he told me which way to point the box in order to pick up the signal from the closest tower.

I just canceled my Clear service for the same reasons that Lani mentions. Since I work on the Internet all day, I CAN?T lose internet when a butterfly passes by. And I?m supposedly surrounded by two towers.
Lani: I called EVERY DAY and complained about my speed until they finally let me out of my contract.

I've used clear for a few months now and have been really happy. I live in close-in SW and usually have 4 lights on modem. I gladly pay for the 6 Mb service, since it's the same price I was paying Qwest for 1.6 Mb. The past 1.5 weeks, though, I have been losing my signal pretty frequently (sometimes 4-5 times per hour) and my modem starts ""scrolling"" looking for a signal for about 3 minutes. It's like there's some sort of intermittent interference coming from somewhere.
