Why we love Rover oaks 11/4/2010

At a very bad time in my life,I adopted a new dog.He had so many problems friends told me I need to give him up. Could not do that. He became one of the first board and train at Katy location. He is now Mr. Amazing. He took many other classes and he is now a Therapy dog. I have taken all sorts of classes with my two other dogs and I would never think of going elsewhere.I am forever in their debt. more

Aki is a great trainer 11/4/2010

I had Aki train my Papllion who had come from rescue. He had some issues with biting and trying to run away from home. She did a wonderful job with him. He is now socialized. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a good trainer. I use to take him to Rover Oaks for daycare, but the last time that I took him, the young lady who was suppose to get him from the play area was so rude that I have never been back. She couldn't get his harness on him and she just pushed him and his harness out the door to me and said in a very rude manner "I can't get this on him"! Needless to say, I found another daycare. more

High Quality Facility 4/27/2007

I recently toured the Rover Oaks Katy facility. As a Professional Pet Sitter I thought their premises was clean and well kept. The staff are nice and I was also impressed with their record keeping system, which is similar to my own. If I had to go out of town I would be happy to leave my pets (cats and dogs) with them and trust that Rover Oaks would do a great job looking after them. The dog suites are large and contained with sliding glass doors so the dogs can see out. They are climate controlled, relatively quiet, have TVs, raised luxury beds, and toys to play with. Each room is painted in a different theme from the Wild West to the Jungle. The bunk house is a large warehouse like area with isles of large, open air kennels. There are very large fans to keep the air moving but its a bit muggier than the interior eclosed suites. The kennels are secure and fit large dogs comfortably. The bunk house is a lot louder than the suites so I recommend that small, shy, old, special needs, and sensitive dogs stay in the quieter suites. All dogs are taken to play and potty in outside enclosed potty / play yards which are raked and cleaned regularly. Rover Oaks also offers cat boarding - the cat condos are clean of a good size. For families with more than one cat, adjacent condos can be opened up to allow the cats to be together and yet have their own space. The cat condo area also has a large fish tank set into the wall for the residents to watch. Other services include obedience training, grooming, and doggy day care. The day care yard is outside and very large. There is an inside resting area with kennels which dogs are put into periodically so that they can rest on their own. It is similar in style to the bunk house but much quieter as the dogs are all tired from playing. The Groomer is a professional show groomer and seems very knowledgeable and friendly. I will be taking my dog to her for the first time in a week and will report back on the experience. The cost is relatively expensive for a full grooming session, at least for my medium coat toy breed dog. They also offer basic bath and groom sessions which are not as expensive as the full grooming service. -- No-one can compare to a professional show groomer so Im sure the cost will be well worth it for her experience and skill. I personally wouldnt trust my dog with the poorly trained, underpaid souls at Pet Smart (who recently shaved one of my Client's dogs against her wishes!). All in all I think Rover Oaks looks to be a very good facility and well worth the sightly higher cost over other area boarding facilities. more

Leave your pet in luxury at Rover Oaks 1/28/2007

Rover Oaks advertises themselves as a "pet resort" offering boarding accommodations ranging from luxury suites (complete with air conditioning, a sofa, and a color TV) to "the bunkhouse" (indoor dog runs). They also offer services such as extra play time, cuddle time, and even gourmet meals. Our puppy has major separation anxiety and does not handle being boarded well (we have only tried it once before and it was a nightmare). We recently had to go out of town for a day and decided to try Rover Oaks. We were pleased with our entire experience. When we dropped our puppy off, they were very professional, and they even give us a personalized report about what she did while she was there and how she did. They were willing to accommodate special requests (and allowed us to bring in our own food, toys, and treats). Our puppy was happy and healthy when we picked her up. Prices are reasonable and range from $26 for a standard bunkhouse suite to $36 for a luxury suite. Cat boarding is $15/day. They also provide grooming on site (for an additional fee), a doggie day camp, and training programs. If you're looking for a great place to board your dog or cat, check out Rover Oaks. more
