A dive bar it is, but what a great place. The food can't be beat for a dive bar in my opinion. The chicken wings are actual, whole chicken wings and the hot sauce on them is their specialty. The wings will take awhile to cook, but they are definitely worth the wait. An ice cold beer and the wings make a great end to a spring day. My other favorite menu item is the BLT. I have no idea how they do it, but their BLTs taste better than anywhere else I've ever had them. The servers work hard and are quick to get what you need. The crowd is usually a pretty good mix. This is actually my husband and I's Valentine Dinner spot, if you can believe it. It's great food, not crowded on that day and very relaxing. The Peanut also has a private room upstairs that can be reserved for parties. A friend did that and it was a great time. There is pool table, sound system and bar upstairs. All around great bar.

Kansas City loves its dive bars, and Kansas City definitely loves the Peanut. Tucked away on 9th St, next to a popular Mexican restaurant, the Peanut mostly attracts ever-increasing neighborhood residents, and doesn't see quite as much lunch or dinner business as nearby Tanner's or the Quaff.
A generous draught selection lines different corners of the back of the bar, and the shifty bartenders double as DJs, jockeying their own CDs, and occasionally fixing skips.
The Peanut is always a fun place to go, and proudly serves Kansas City's best BLT.
