I have had nothing but great experiences flying Southwest. The first flight I ever took was on Southwest and they made me feel very comfortable and safe. I use Southwest these days to make frequent flights from Kansas City to Detroit at a good price. The staff have always been friendly even when there was a mixup with my ticket. Very pleased with this airline.

It's hard to knock Southwest when you consider how they have impacted the cost of domestic flights. When SWA comes to your town, suddenly American and Delta are dropping their fares like crazy. Although I wouldn't call the "cattle call" free for all of grabbing any open seat a perfect experience for family travel, it's hard to beat it in price. Their Rapid Rewards program is also just as great-- my husband and I have each earned several free flights.

I have flown Southwest Airlines many times to all different areas. When I had friends living in Washington DC. I always flew Southwest. They are one of the few airlines to offer nonstop flights to DC and the price was almost always the cheapest. They also offer non-stop service to Orlando which is very nice as many airlines have layovers that really extend the trip. Southwest often runs great internet specials and if you are watching for them you can often get really great fares. For example, a friend and I flew to Fort Lauderdale for 120.00 each. That was a great bargain. My flights have always been on time, clean, well staffed and above average for service. I look for southwest schedules when I get ready to buy because my experiences have been so good.

I have had a few different experiences with Southwest Airlines. One one hand I have had easy flight, on time arrival and departures and smooth flights. I have also had the total opposite experience where flight I was on got delayed which made me miss my connecting fligh, then I was put on stand by and finally arrived at my destination the following day. I don't like the fact that seats aren't assigned, you just sit where there is an empty seat which can be difficult when you are traveling with more than one person.

Southwest Airlines sometimes is reliable, but sometimes it is not. I flew with Southwest a last week, and the plane was 45 minutes late. The plane I took before that was right on time, but I had trouble checking my luggage. The plane I road in was very nice, though.

Southwest Airlines is a good company. I recently flew to and from Oakland on their airline, and was very satisfied. The thing I was most impressed with was how fast they got the luggage back to us after the flight was over. It was like as soon as we got to baggage claim, it was there. The prices are reasonable, and better than most airlines. The reason it only gets four stars is because the seats are very comfortable. I did not have a very comfortable flight. Other than that it was great.
