Last Saturday I had a reservation for four at Ten Tables in Jamaica Plain. I had eaten there before and had a fabulous experience. When I arrived for my 8 o'clock reservation, my table wasn't available. Since the restaurant is so small, I was told to wait outside. I waited for about 20 minutes. I understand that things happen. Parties show up late, they sit for a long time etc. but when you have a reservation, I expect the table to be ready when I arrive.
Despite the wait, the food and service was phenomenal as always. There is always something new and interesting on the menu. There is also a four course vegetarian meal. The menu usually consist of a fish, beef, and pasta dish all created with a unique flair.
My advice for going to Ten Tables would be to make a reservation, be prepared to wait, and go with an open mind.

It's great that this place exists in the heart of JP. Formerly Perdix, this upscale boite serves extremely refined fare just steps from the neon glare of pizza shops and ice cream stores. Very small, as name implies, reservations highly recommended. Service great, atmosphere interesting. But a strange feel of being out of context with the larger neighborhood. Cool, if that's your thing, but can also feel like richie rich slumming it.
Good food, expensive. Enjoy.
