Happened in the past, but I will NEVER forget... 9/14/2013

I have had two rough experiences with this clinic. The first time, I was very uncomfortable having a male doctor and asked to see a midwife only. She was wonderful except for the fact she did not respect my wishes for a natural birth. She suggested an induction before I was even at my due date, and then didn't show up to the hospital until the last minute. I was then having to compromise my beliefs in female only attendance and stuck with the younger male doctor who unfeelingly said he was going to break my water and then place me in the bed, on my back to labor and then put on pitocin. My reason exact for not wanting a male cause I did not believe they could relate to the pain I would have let alone how much more it would be with the pitocin. My natural birth flew out the window with scare tactics and unexplained consequences for the procedures they TOLD me I was going to have. In the midwife's defense, she did end up showing up with enough time to catch the baby. I won't even go into the "inappropriate" conversation with Dr. Edwards himself which solidified my belief to never have a male attendant for my birth. EVER. The second experience, I was actually sent a note to terminate my care in the last trimester of my pregnancy because my birth plan seemed unreasonable. (I didn't want the HepLock due to the pain and my veins being very small). No one discussed it with me. I didn't find out until the next appointment when the nurse at the desk told me I could not be seen for a scheduled appointment. I then was humiliated and scared into begging them to take me back. Later, I scooped up my dignity and transferred to the clinical care in Wilmington. I wouldn't recommend a half dead horse be sent out to this pasture. more

Horrible 2/21/2011

Good: Receptionst, staff and the Dr seemed nice and what seemed through explaining at the time.. Bad: The Dr seemed nice, she treated me for a hormone imbalance, which caused pre cancerous uterus cancer and have I cervical cancer and she never ran tests for it, or an ultra sound with having cancerous symptoms.I trusted them and after my Dr sending me to another DR, I then discovered all of this. Now I have to have a total hysterectomy next month. It could have been avoided had she done standard tests, ie, pap smear to test for cervical cancer and ultra sound.. Improvements: I truly believe they need far more extensive training. To not g et one thing in their mind and treat it for that, but to do standard tests to rule out more serious conditions. They're all about saving insurance companies money by not doing the proper tests to save the insurance money and to save them time.I feel too they should do reminder calls for patients.. Other: I am so truly dissapointed in what I have been recently diagnosed with because I told her my symptoms and my new Dr Immediately knew by telling her the symptoms that I have cervical cancer symptoms, which was tested for in a standard pap smear that they never did. Plus I complained to WHA how birth control pills/hormones were making my symptoms worse and they tried to make me believe it is normal for changes to happen like this.Thank god for my new Dr and the new GYN that immediately knew, and did the test. more

Great experiance!!!! 9/12/2010

Good: I love WHA facility. I recieved top knotch care there. I would recommend WHA to anyone.. Bad: The only thing that I can think of saying that I didn't like is NOTHING.. Improvements: I would like to see WHA grow into a larger facility. The grounds are kindof small for the increasing patient load. But other than that my experience there was fantastic. All caring, passionate employees and doctors includinf the CNM's.. Other: WHA ROCKS!!!!!. more

really nice people 3/16/2006

when i moved here i was 7 1/2 months pregnant and had to find a new doctor right away. i finally went with Women's Heath care and I'm glad that i did. Everyone that works here is so nice and friendly. There are two doctors and they are hilarious and make you feel comfortable right away. I've never felt uncomfortable one time which is very good for me. usually I'm so tense when i have to visit any kind of doctor let alone a gynecologist. the building itself is beautiful with a small garden at the front that you can see from the front waiting room. its very clean and peaceful. if you are looking for a new doctor and they are accepting new patients, give them a try. more
