fccj is good for high school graduates who are not ready to go to a 4 year university. you STILL have to work hard. dont get it in your head that you just do nothing and all is well just because it is a community college. the workload is fair, and the teachers are top notch. i suggest you check out preofessor rating websites before you choose which classes to take. in college, professors will make or break you.

I trained at Pak's Karate Academy for several years in the late '90s. I attended the main school on Blanding Blvd. and started as a white belt, advancing all the way to 1st Dan black belt. I eventually became an assistant instructor for the pee-wee classes, guiding little ones through their forms and sparring.
Beginners are shown basic movements and although it can be awkward at first, it gets easier. You eventually learn forms and how to spar. Classes start with stretching, forms, kicking practice, and finally sparring.
Tuition was affordable back then but I'm not sure what the rates are now. I was also able to attend class any weeknight and on Saturday mornings. I think morning classes are also offered twice a week, and pee-wees can come in the afternoons.
Taking a martial art is beneficial in so many ways. It instills confidence, boosts self-esteem, and promotes self-discipline.

I am not fond of this child care at the moment. Let me say that my step son attends this "academy" (I use that term loosely) and I have noticed that on more that one occassion that all of the doors are locked at all times. I understand that for the protection of the students, the doors should be locked during the times that no one is in the office by the door. However, it gets extremely aggravating to knock on the door, ring the doorbell, and stand there in the rain while you're running late to work, only to have NO ONE answer the door. Repeatedly. I have dropped him off approximately 2 times per week since school has started, and it is the same each time. It appears to be unorganized. The "parking lot" if you can even call it that, is a mess. There are 4 spots, and no where to turn around unless you consider the muddy mess in the back. The grass is overgrown, and they use sheets for curtains. And not even nice ones.
Not a happy camper.

This daycare facility is awesome! They sure are expensive, but it is worth the money for the peace of mind this childcare provides. The staff is super-friendly and the children seem to really love it here. It is always clean and bright inside, and the inspection reports are always public notice. They are wonderful. The children also learn a curriculum, which is important for preparing the kids for school. My son loves it here.

If you are looking for a nice dance group for your child you may want to give Step by Step in Argyle a call. Ms. Regina offers classes in tap, ballet, modern and hip hop. The class sizes are small, but then..so is the building. Parking can be difficult, but the personalized instruction is worth it. Most of the girls that start with Step by Step stay for years. Each year the dance classes have a large recital at the Florida Theater. This is the highlight for the year and always quite a spectacular production.

A brand new branch that only opened just before summer. Tucked back in the less busy part of Argyle, the Argyle Branch of the Jacksonville Public Library is a wonderful oasis from the hustle and bustle.
Every single piece of furniture, book, DVD and computer in the library is brand new.
The librarians are very helpful.
And the decor is bright and cheerful with a seperate children's section that is apart from the main library.

This school is not one I would recommend to any parent. None of the teachers their seem to take any value in their jobs. I have had the experience of being lied to by the teacher basically conferencing with him over my child figuring we worked something out then nothing was ever done. I think if this continues I will just have to home school I really don't think I would do any worse then they are.
