Growing up in Elmhurst I've been exposed to a variety of Columbian restaurants. I've had the best experience at La Pequena Columbia thus far. Nice atmosphere , but the most important thing is obviously taste, and this restaurant is a great example of what Columbian cuisine is supposed to be about. And you'll be lucky to finish the portions in one sitting, which I love!!
Pros: Big portions!!! Great Authentic Columbian Flavor!!
Cons: What are the drawbacks?

The minute i stepped into the restaraunt, i instantly felt a nice environment. the service was something you won't find in many restaraunts and it was a very hospitable experience right off the bat. if anyone is near the area i would highly recommend this place as the place to go. not only was the service great, but the food was definitely memorable. The thing that stood out to me was that it wasn't your typical kind of restaraunt but something much more. you knew that each plate of food was cooked with a considerable amount of care. once again, this is a restaraunt i really would strongly suggest to anyone who lives in that area or would pass by it.
Pros: the food, the service
Cons: none that stand out

I walked into La Pequena Columbia on a whim, and I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. The food is great, the wait staff incredibly attentive and the food is AMAZING. This is a perfect place to come with friends, family or on a date. We had some drinks before our meal and truly the whole dining experience rivals something at a much more expensive restaurant. I would recommend anyone looking for good spanish food or a high class dining experience.
Pros: Great food, service, affordable.
Cons: Parking

"My experience at La Peque?a Colombia was quiet delightful and a wonderful all around experience. I was impressed by the decor of the restaurant. Upon entering, it had this very welcoming vibe to it and the atmosphere was great inside. The waitress and staff were extremely pleasant and patient whilst explaining many of the entrees on the menu which were foreign to me. The food was great and the portions were very large. One entree was definitely good for two servings. I would highly recommend La Peque?a Colombia if your interested in eating in an environment that feels like a 5 star restaurant yet doesn't charge like one!!"
Pros: Large portions, Friendly service, great value!

High class restaurant with a friendly environment, it is sure not to disappoint. The food is exceptionally well-done for a bargain price, and the service was phenomenal. This is definitely a family restaurant, a restaurant you go to on a date, along with many other diverse purposes. What it does best is bring a sense of casualty to an up-scale restaurant.
Pros: Environment, Service, the Food Itself
Cons: Possibly parking

By far one of the best restaurants I've been to. It was my first time there and I look forward in returning. The way the restaurant was set up was cozy and comfortable. The service was great, our waiter really made us feel like we were at home. The empanadas were simply amazing. One drink that I recommend for anyone that is curious is the Apple Soda. The food was cooked just right and the portions were great. I got the breaded chicken with rice and beans cooked to perfection. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Pros: Lots of food, Good Prices, excellent service

I've tried other "Spanish" cuisine restaurants and in my opinion La Pequena Colombia restaurant outshines all others.
I've been to the restaurant twice within a week because the food was so appetizing. On my second visit, it was on Valentine's Day, it was very busy and I thought I would wait over an hour to be seated, however, I was seated and served within 15 minutes. Wow! That was a great restaurant experience especially during the most celebrated day of the year (Valentine's Day!).
During my visits, the staff treated me as if I were a member of the family with superb service. The restaurant's appearance is genuine and cleanliness is not an issue.
If you happen to be in the Roosevelt Ave area, drop by La Pequena Colombia, and try the Montanero dish. La Pequena Colombia is very generous with the portions served and yet it is very economical.
They serve the best Sangria in town and if you have enough room for dessert, order one because the dessert is to "die for."
I would definitely recommend La Pequena Colombia & South American cuisine restaurant to all friends and family members.
Hey, you never know, it may become your favorite restaurant and see your friends dining there too.
Pros: The serve top quality meats.
Cons: Parking can be a nuisance but it's worth it.

Living in Queens, we hear all about the great ethnic restaurants that pepper our borough but many times, we can?t seem to find one when we?re looking.
Located just off the No. 7 train in the Little Colombia section of Jackson Heights, this eatery has been a local favorite since it opened in 1984.
Newly remodeled, the restaurant has a front set up diner-style with a bar and booths and a back section that is spacious and white-clothed chic.
Regulars come for the plato montanero, a dish the menu translates as ?a traditional mountain platter? consisting of ground beef, fried egg, fried pork, griddle cake, avocado and fried beans. With a description like that, is there any need to say that portions are generous? Suffice it to say, you?ll either leave with a doggy bag or a busting stomach.
La Peque?a also grills an incredible entrana, or skirt steak. Served with a chimichurri sauce, this juicy steak is something that would make Peter Luger jealous.
Other favorites, are the chorizo, a pork sausage seasoned with paprika and salt, arepas, an unleavened biscuit made from cornmeal and garra, and traditional pork rinds.
Fish is also available fresh and La Peque?a prides itself in not using anything canned.
All traditional dishes, or platos tipicos, come with a choice of sweet or fried plaintains, fried cassava, stewed potatoes, French fries or yuca sudada and are all less than $20.
The sangria also is homemade and served by the pitcher or glass. La Peque?a is also one of the few places in the City where you can find an Aguila, a Colombian beer.
But don?t leave before tasting one of Colombia?s finest exports: coffee. The coffee is made to order but I suggest having it with hot milk, the way the Colombians drink it.
In short, go to La Peque?a and be transported to Colombia.

Pros: Great for large groups
Cons: Parking is sometimes difficult - discount parking available at 85th Street

I have to say its one of the best nights out we've had in a long time. Everything was perfect and the price - totally affordable and we all took home doggy bags!
