We got lost in Queens and stumbled upon Jackson Heights one night. We had heard good things about this restaurant and they were all true. I'm a fan of indian food. The food was excellent and very reasonable. I got tandoori chicken. Our Indian friends were also very impressed with the food.

I love this restaurant and come here regularly. This is known as THE Indian restaurant to go to, although as a result, I've noticed that lately there are more non-Indians than Indians. A few doors down, Dehli Palace is also quite good. I personally prefer to order dishes solo, rather than go with the buffet, since I find the dishes more fresh. But if you want the variety, then the buffet is still decent. I like their lassi, which is tasty and a large size. The restaurant is loud but service is fast.

On the recommendation of a few Indian friends, we visited Jackson Diner a few months back. With some help in ordering, we enjoyed a fantastic dinner. The appetizer samosa is great, they alone make me want to go back. The Indian breads are soft and fluffy, the chicken tikka is sensuous.

Jackson Diner in Little India (74 Street in Jackson Heights), has become immensely popular over the years. Primarily famous for their North Indian fare, including having the best samosas in town, they also offer dosas and bhel. Their buffet lunch is quite popular, although lately their vegetarian selection has not been impressive; the non-vegetarian selection in buffet is quite good. They also offer dosas in buffet, which are incredibly soft and fluffy, do try them! Their black daal (ma ki daal) is quite good, as are their malai kofta, palaak paneer, and dum aloo.

Ahhh?the smell of curry wafts through the air so thick sometimes as you walk down 74th Street that you could almost bite into it. Everyone knows about our little slice of India on 74th and vicinity, but only insiders know which Indian restaurants are the really good ones! Jackson Diner is known to most people as THE Indian restaurant to go to for their chic atmosphere (definitely not a diner) and their delicious food. However, does it really live up to its hype? I?ve been to this place countless times both as a visitor to Jackson Heights and as a new neighborhood resident. They do offer great food but I?ve found their dishes to be inconsistent. Sometimes their buffets are too salty, as if catering to a more Americanized palate. Judging from the weekend and evening crowds here, they are most popular among the non-Indian clientele. The weekend buffet is set at $9, while the weekday buffet is more like $7.

For a more ?authentic? and less expensive alternative, I recommend Ashoka on 37th Ave, between 74th and 75th Street. They have better-prepared dishes with less salt and more spice.
