This is the authentic Pio Pio Restaurant! If you wants great tasting Peruvian rotisserie chicken, you have to go to this location. To avoid waiting on line the best time to go is for lunch on weekdays. If you insist on going there for dinner, do it on weekdays! I've driven past there on weekends and there is always a lot of people waiting to get in! Their menu is simple and their prices are very reasonable. You can order one of their chicken combination plates that can feed more than 2 people or you can create your own combination to you liking. The restaurant has 2 levels and can accommodate a large party. By the way, their sangria is excellent!

this has to be the best chicken i have ever tasted in a while. I found out there's like 50 of these places in the city but we went to the one in jackson heights because susan ate here before and said we should try it. we ordered chicken with some green sauce (YUMMY but a bit spicy) fries , yucca, salad, and sangria. really recommend it.
Pros: moist delicious chicken and sangria
Cons: loud, busy, limited english waiter

The rotisserie chicken is amazing. The place is always packed but the wait isn't so bad. They only have three main dishes, but it is well worth it. I've been to the one on 34th Street and in the Bronx, this Queens place is biggest out of the three. The price is also very fair.

I have been going to Pio Pio (138st and Cypress, Mott Haven) since it opened a little while back. Its a nice place..good food...and a GREAT addition to the neighborhood. However, when you enter this trendy restaurant, you are greeted by a thug at the door, with the hat turned backwards, 10x too big jeans hanging 2 feet below his waist, gigantic oversized shirt, tattoos, and ridiculously huge Timberlands. It struck me as very odd why they would choose to have this as the first impression, and as the seating host of the restaurant, when everything else is so nice, trendy, etc.
I was GREATLY DISSAPPOINTED AND DISGUSTED to learn why this thug is the one greeting you at the door. Pio Pio is paying off the local street thugs for some absurd reason, and this thug is the "security" for the restuarant. Basically they feel the need, for some reason, to have gangmembers running their business...much like the supposed "protection" that the mob offered all those years ago.
Not only will I NEVER go there again...I am shocked that they are suporting the local thugs and will be sure to make everyone aware of what is going on. I recommend everyone reading this to not only boycott the chain but to expose the restuarant for supporting/encouraging local street thugs!

This is one of my favorite places in the city. The menu is simple and the bright decor and latin music are absolutely great. The wait staff is amongst the friendliest in the city. You must have the sangria. Unfortunatey, It can become very busy, so the earlier the better.
